Woo-hoo! Shonen Knife have just announced that: Planning is underway for the summer 2013 European Tour for Shonen Knife and this time we'd like to go to some places we didn't visit before as well as some old favourites. Where would you like to see Shonen Knife ROCK? I nearly wet myself in excitement and probably deafened the neighbours with my squeels of joy when I read that because after talking to Naoko last year about a tour for this year she was very non-committal about it. All she said on the subject was, "Check our website for news." I got a similar answer from Emi and was starting to fear the worst - that I'd have to spend all my money going to see other less worthy bands and was on the verge of booking a ticket for a four day punk festival up in Blackpool, but now I don't know what to do. I don't know where I'd like them to play. My home town is probably totally unsuitable due to lack of any decent venues for live music. But I'm looking forward to chasing them around the UK and getting to as many gigs as I possibly can. I have now entered stalker mode. Time to start saving....

Dear Promoters & friends,
The Japanese rock legends ‘Shonen Knife’ will be touring UK, Ireland & Europe from May 20th – June 20th. The band are in their 31st year of rock and have seen amazing press for their most recent albums ‘Pop Tune’, ‘Osaka Ramones’,
The above from Damnably's website!!!
Next time I'm back in work for my lovely job I will submit an annual leave request. Fingers crossed.....

Great news for the fans from UK/Europe! Wow, I wasn't sure that an overseas tour was happenning this year. Seems like there's usually a new CD to promote for that to happen.
It does make me wonder about a possible North America tour later in the year? Been really fortunate to see SK to play here four straight years - each in the summer/fall timeframe. I do remember Naoko commenting about her US Visa expiring. Hmm..
Wouldn't it be cool if they play their great MBV cover "When You Sleep"?

I would think they would still be promoting "Pop Tune"; which is why they are looking for NEW venues where they haven't played before... They really had a successful tour in Europe last year; including radio airplay, something they never get here in the Americas

Are there any tour dates confirmed yet? It would be pretty awkward to have Shonen Knife play in my hometown, while I'm in Japan!

If Naoko's US Visa is expired, then she should send Emi and Ritsuko to the US to join up with Atsuko! That would be a great line-up!

A SK show without Naoko? Kinda like a Who show without Pete Townsend (their songwriter/guitarist too) - what's the point? Hope she can get the US Visa!!😁
