Twitter: @jungles_japanFacebook: www.facebook.com/jungles.from.R.B.VWeb: no sign of them jungles!!! (with 3 bangs, please) began in 2013 as Red Bacteria Vacuum, minus Kassan. That personnel change triggered a new name for the band, which cost the three continuing members over a decade’s worth of recognition. Actually, the new jungles!!! is a 50/50 blend of RBV and the defunct GitoGito Hustler, but all the song material seems to be new or RBV. Mais oui, mon frère. Worn as hoped, and not like an XXL potato sack, the big kitty's sunglasses make an inspiring visual pun. But it belongs on Ikumi because she too screams like an honest-to-god leopard! She had it on when they showed up at the hall (T.C.R.C., last date in TW ).

Yagoroumaru when she was a drummerThe informed Jungles fan naturally needs to know GitoGito Hustler. As Fusa, drumming for GGH, Yagoroumaru was a relaxed player who could keep a beat, get around on the kit, make a song move. She’s interesting, expressive. Compared to Jasmine… she was sporting more of the vocabulary of an earlier era, the 1950s and ‘60s. So, you don’t see her resorting to a disco march, boots 'n' cats pattern. Also, it used to be that the Red Bacteria Vacuum recorded drum sound was crashy, with the bottom EQ'd out of it. On studio tracks with Jungles, Jasmine's got more bomp, not unlike GGH. I like this change. Fusa swung a little, rocked a lot. Why'd she ever lay down her sticks? Dunno, but that looks like a wedding ring on her left hand. Now that she's switch-hitting on bass, Jasmine's gained a valuable ally, but we've still lost a little something. Jungles are getting out this summer. Their live schedule is kept up on Facebook, and also on the old Red Bacteria Vacuum blog. Meanwhile, some fan video of a club date made it onto YouTube a couple of days ago, and the band is most appreciative: YouTube Playlist by Ray SladeJungles live at Koshigaya Easy Goings 2015 May 24
Video and upped by Big Ray Slade 2015 June 18 Song order: 1. UID song fragment 2. Rock'n Roll Party 3. C'mon Let's Go (cover of Girlschool from 1981) 4. Last Song 5. Danger After the date, Jungles tweeted a post-concert photo from a rail transit car. Jasmine's not in it, because Jasmine seems always to be the staff photographer. The official channel said: Thank you very much, Koshigaya EASY GOINGS! It's time to go home now. We'll be sure to come back soon (^^)

Good day for Jungles fans. 10 live songs on YouTube, 2 of them new. Don't be fooled by the available 1080HD resolution, the image res on these is more like a shaky 480. Sound is all right. Ikumi is not going home without some heads. Mitsuko's Sailor Jerry's shift seems to be cut out of an XXXL shirt. Jasmine's kind of far in back, and Yago just does her job in her corner. www-youtube-com/playlist?list=PLQQj8PXSaFfI25fg3HHJpD68yUbXfoFu7Jungles!!! Make Tokyo Weird!! An absolutely horrific bout of insomina lead me to finding this gem. www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3ByUSmXoMIThe Jungles!!! related bit starts at 2:53. Is it my imagination or does the dude in glasses say 'Elvis Costello' at 5:22? It only remains for me to say ...... OMG Ikumi is GORGEOUS!!! I'm totally in love. Again. Note to self, when I finally get to see Jungles!!! play live I must control myself & not tell Ikumi that she is beautiful & that I am in love with her! Yep, I've got form for saying that to Japanese musicians. Not gonna mention any names but she plays bass in NO CARS!!!

I saw something about this show, but haven't gone to track it down. Yeah, Tokyo Design Week TV was catching up with SXSW and had on Producer Hiroshi Asada of ASADA INC. The Austin TX festival is news right now, because they are casting for the 2016 performance slate in Tokyo this month. You remember Perfume was the ace in the hand last year. Asada is the all-Asia representative for SXSW, meaning he's the guy who ultimately finds and picks bands to go, and he's also the one name-dropping Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Talking Heads, etc. Those are all Western artists he has brought to Japan in days gone by. He's reciting his standard bio, which you find in various places. Ikumi and Masayo from Lolita No.18 were invited as living set decorations. They talk a little about Japan Nite in its relation to SXSW, what audiences are like in JP and the US, etc. etc. Masayo's the Great Lady of Japan Nite, so she gets the first seat. Her speaking voice is sounding a little like Tom Waits itself there. Shocking departure from her trademark helium quack. About 17 minutes in, Audrey Kimura of Sister Records /Benten Online appears like magic in a dorky straw hat, making her real entrance around 18:50. Good news for Izumi, Auntie Oo-do-ri is an old friend, and is on record as saying RBV and Lolita No.18, together with Shonen Knife, are the greatest girl bands in history. Early on, Japan Nite was SXSW's entire pipeline to the orient, but now it's grown far beyond that. Ikumi was like this in school, too, I bet. Grunge couture and seeking stimulation.I'd love to transcribe and translate this show, but realistically I'm not going have any time till Friday, and god only knows what Friday will bring. That is a vintage or copy John Lennon self-portrait cartoon shirt on host Ken Mogi. Pro Tips for Fans #666: never come on to the talent! I'm in love with them all. I assume they take that as given and are politely overlooking it so we can all focus on what really matters.

The Skunk Hell Live House was first stop on a 3-day stand in Seoul, followed by the 300-capacity Crack Hall on Sunday the 4th as part of the Zandari Festa 2015, and finishing the 5th at Strange Fruit.
Zandari is one of those 80 bands in 30 places in 3 days that make you choose between TsuShiMaMire and, for example, Jungles. You can't see them both without a time machine.
