JAPAN NAITO 2016, NOW HISTORYThey could have called it jungles!!! nite.
They were the show, and they carried it.
I'm kind of worn out just at the moment.
I guess it's a Japan thing. All the most
awesome bands are full of people with
wonderful personalities.
Just — friendly, kindly, fun and sweet.
New EP is great. There's a lot of surf
on it, the burned-rubber, 7-second
quarter mile variety. It still sounds
like jungles!!! never fear. They brought
back "Love Song" from
Killer Dust. That was a great pleasure to hear.
I think that Jasmine has been doing
some speed workouts, because she
was just going diggadiggadiggadigga
on her hi-hat like Max Roach. She is
truly one of your deft and accurate
drummers with power. She had the
merch table job this evening. I tried
to tease her about "we keep your
change" but it was too complicated
so I just got
.

The title might be "Overpunk"
*** Sorry, but I no longer know what song this even is!
Ikumi uses a grand total of two pedals,
one a tube overdrive and one a tuner.
That's it. She does a Chuck Berry
duckwalk in a semi-crouch, pretty
amusing and she thinks so too.
Visiting Japanese think San Francisco
is consecrated to The Grateful Dead
and The Jefferson Airplane. Whereas
I think it's just a big food court for Uber,
Square, Oracle, Salesforce, Dolby Labs
and Twitter. They really seem to like
this town.
It was a polite, reserved crowd overall.
A mix of genuine neo-hippies, young
asian professionals, total degenerates,
and gray-haired veterans. There was
respectful, cooperative circle and
slingshot moshing. I got launched
almost into the camera operator, sigh.
It was my thrill to dance a little with Yagoroumaru
and their crowd-surfing jack-o-lantern mascot
Kin, who used to front for the Kyoto thrashcore
punks Suck Piggy. DAETH PUNKS they would say.
Ikumi and Mitsuko were holding a dance party
of their own opposite. You'll be surprised to know
jungles!!! are really good dancers.
I'm afraid I kept banging into Audrey K.
Not my fault, she's like 4 feet tall including
the hat and I can hardly even see her when
she's darting around.
The 2016 edition of Monster Girls from Japan"See you next time, " I said experimentally
to Ikumi, and she gave me a BIG don't hold
your breath look. So I guess this will have
to do for awhile.
