Never seen this one before - New Order with a live version of "Age of Consent" - one of my fave songs of theirs. Bernard seems kinda upset.. youtu.be/0VcGJZpfl1c

Bernard seems kinda upset... And everybody else is playing heads-down, with Steve Morris bolting out the back like his car's being towed. Singing and playing looked like a minor struggle, but not quite *that* bad. (o-0) Searching <new order bbc radio 1> turned up several 1984 items, including "Blue Monday" recorded just before the foam screen paid for its crimes.

Just a nice-looking boy from Throggs Neck with ambitions. It meant nothing to me at the time, but I think I dimly recall him from Jack Benny's variety show on American TV. Acts like Day's were important for mainstreaming Irish culture in the US through a kind of sanitization process. Which reminds me, where the *hell* are all my Pogues CDs?

Well, time for me and Sammi to take in our second "oldies" show at the Orange County Fair last nite - this one featuring Three Dog Night and Jefferson Starship. But first have to get some of that delicious funnel cake:) Opening band was Jefferson Starship. Being a huge Jefferson Airplane/Starship fan, I was interested in what we would see/hear. Well, I was initially disappointed to see no original JA members (Kantner, Balin, Slick, Casady) - but the band was very good (I found later that Paul Kantner suffered a heart attack in March - pretty admirable to me that the band still carried on touring this summer) and can't fault their song selection with three of the eight songs played from the classic 1967 psychedelic Jefferson Airplane album "Surrealistic Pillow" - including this one "Today" with original Jeffership Starship alum David Freiberg sounding a lot like Marty Balin - a good thing! (And special guest appearance by Sammi:) youtu.be/L86EaIK6cOAAfter the San Francisco band Jefferson Starship finished, it was time for Los Angeles' Three Dog Night. This band still has two original members - Danny Hutton and Cory Wells - with several others that have played with the band quite a few years. The band played great and was very entertaining. It's amazing how many hit songs they have - here are a couple videos with the typical bad view (except for Sammi:) but okay sound:) youtu.be/DmR1yqZC_aAyoutu.be/Ktws_JN6jkkFun show!

Blue alien funnel cake scary!! Remember when the Jefferson Airplane was a threat to the moral fibre of America? When I go to Trader Joe's for groceries, the BG music is all stuff I remember from 1am on underground college radio stations. Good thing? Bad thing? Giant Sammi is on the way to replacing the shiba inu doge meme at YouTube.

Yes, Dennis Day was one of the regulars on the Jack Benny show since way back in the old radio days, along with Jack's Wife Mary and the man of 1000 voices, Mel Blanc, who played character parts and Jack's old Maxwell car, on the show! www.youtube.com/watch?v=17N2g2Ryqi8

This band has really stood up over decades, and I couldn't say that of most!

I know I've mentioned them elsewhere, but here's a band that I've never got it together to go and see yet, and I know that I'm really missing out big time. The Toy Dolls. A very silly UK punk band, who, according to various mates who've seen them live, and all the vids on YT, they always put on a good show. They've been around for ages and are still going. Here's a recent vid of them... Here's a shorter clip of one of the songs which they also played in the above vid, "Spiders in The Dressing Room". This one's not a great vid of a popular little ditty, but it does show how The Toy Dolls get the crowd going. Nellie The Elephant... With songs called James Bond Lives Down Our Street and My Wife's a Psychopath you've just got to Dig That Groove Baby,
