I'm living for the EightiesThe Eighties thought they had socio-political problems. That's so cute. Of all the chilly, smart, end-of-the-world British New Wave rock bands… this one is the one. Once upon a time, I had "Love Like Blood" on loop, for the instrumental alone. This YT clip comes from an enhanced music CD, released in 2001 but recorded in 1985–86. Killing Joke is still in business, kind of, in their 40th year as a band. The latest album of originals, Pylon, came out on Spinefarm in October 2015. They toured it around the EU a bit the following spring, with a couple of added guest spots on the Guns & Roses Not In This Lifetime tour… Rockaway Fest this January… They're clearly taking it at a walk. The website is completely offline at the moment. If only they hadn't ripped off Nirvana so blatantly. They used this guitar lick in 1985. Kurt was barely 18, a homeless high school dropout. They could have given him another 5 years to come up with something before they took his whole sound. Appreciation for one of Naru's favorite bands
She gets a little thrill when someone else likes them. The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society at 452013 NOV by Andy Miller for Mill-I-Am.com mill-i-am.com/the-kinks-are-the-village-green-preservation-society-at-45/ The popularity of [ Miller's ] Village Green book is almost entirely down to the affection with which people view The Kinks in general and this album in particular; but I think it also reflected an appetite for serious, grown-up writing about the Kinks which discussed the group on the same level as the Beatles or the Who, while making reference to social history, film, literature, and so on.
Coming back to the book after ten years, I think I almost succeeded in delivering this. Almost. I have one regret – I wish I had been kinder about “Wonderboy.”— Kinks or Beatles, pick one. — Go on, get out of here. — Seriously. OK, pick between the 10 best Kinks songs or the 10 best Beatles songs. — It's nonsense. I refuse. — Pick. — Kinks. No such thing as the 10 best Beatles songs anyway. I like a little bit of everything, but mostly: alternative, indie, punk, metal, grunge, and riot grrrl bands.
