Geez, Neil, you can stop harshing on BabyMetal anytime now. They're kind of meta–, true, but if they are a cesspool of idol-cultural exploitation and deceit, then Perfume needs a bath too. You just shillin' for your Auto-Tuned, synth-loving pop-metal girlfriends Cyntia. +1 for Destrose, though. DOLL$BOXX I think(?) was a ~2012 collaboration that didn't grow any legs. Gacharic Spin is back in gear and active right now, though. They need your love. They are trying for the third time after discouraging disruptions, with a girlier image and that can't be easy on their wild-ass bassist, Koga. TsuShiMaMiRe — all bow down. The Shonen Knife group I just don't know about. We need a Ramones cover band that copies 70s Anglo hard rock?

Now for something.. not fundamentally completely different. Naoko Terai, the Other NaokoA living goddess of le jazz hot, violinist Terai is just one of those people. Started music lessons at age 4, was on TV at age 6, has a tone like honey, and is herself a big sweetie as you can see. Here she is recording some remarks on video, without a cigar box stuck to her face. Still gowned in black, like always. Naoko Terai "Donna Lee" LiveTokyo Stadium, 2002 August 24/25 Upped by hothouse1468 2012 Dec 14 Naoko suavely tearing up the bebop standard "Donna Lee" in 2002, before so many empty seats at Herbie Hancock's first-ever Tokyo Jazz Festival. In a stadium. No head monitor. How did the echo not make her crazy? Naoko Terai - "Sing, Sing, Sing"Upped by soundtownemijapan 2011 March 01 I am guessing that this is 2010 April 25 at Sendai Municipal House Small Hall, which is not what I call small. There's just the tiniest little headbang near the end.

Just marking the passing of original Yes bassist, Chris Squire — at 67, of leukemia first reported last May. Rolling Stone magazine Chris Squire obitThe TOMATO HEAD Shibata twitter account was ironically how I found out. Atsushi was stricken by the news, perhaps they knew one another. Squire was the second or third bass player I sat up and noticed, and the first one for whom I would have traded all the rest of the band. It may be nothing but myth, but once it was said that he would resort to a pre-reform threepenny piece as a guitar pick. They stand up when you really bear down. So long to a brilliant star. UPDATE: Atsushi-san dusted off his Hatena Blog to write an emotional tribute, which he linked from a tweet late last night. He worked all day as usual, came home, wrote a page. In his tweet, he said: Iesu to iu bando, soshite Kurisu Sukuwaiya no bēsu ni deawanakereba, jibun wa ima to chigatta hito ni shiagattemashita. Anata wa boku o tsureteitte kuremashita. Arigatōgozaimasu. Yasuraka ni.In English, it amounts to: Had I not happened upon a band called Yes, and the bass [playing] of Chris Squire, I would not have become the person I am now. You were my guide on the path. Thank you very much. Be at peace. So, that's what the deal is. As someone said on the TalkBass forum, even if you don't claim Squire as an influence, there is someone you would, who does.

Other than Shonen Knife, the only must-see musician(s) for me? My all-time favorite classic rocker Neil Young! youtu.be/1DBewzgXgYkLove his solo acoustic stuff - and his electric guitar (his black Les Paul:) with Crazy Horse, etc equally;)

It'll be awhile before I can hear "Rockin' in the Free World" with clean ears, though. BTW, Donald Trump is being a bully, an ignoramus and a blowhard once again. Young is well within his legal rights to insist that Trump stop using his tune for that farcical political campaign.

They brought backup! There's a small regiment on that stage. Sammi on the right? What was Elvis like, anyway?

I completely forgot that the Earth was this old! That's an E-MU Emulator I, ready to read and store your 8-bit sound samples on cheap and ubiquitous five-and-a-quarter-inch floppy diskettes. Perfect Kit! Perfect Kiss, I mean.
