Thanks for the upload of the wonderful No Cars gig at Bethnal Green.
It's probably just as well that you didn't attempt to upload any video evidence of a cute Japanese girl flying - no matter how short the flight was. Especially as she was doing her flying outside of Japan! Ninja snatch squads would have been sent out to destroy all the evidence and you would probably now be languishing in a tower in Osaka castle and awaiting "treatment".
Or perhaps you foolishly did try to upload the evidence. Got grabbed by the ninjas, and have now been replaced by a Sasquatch-robot substitute. One so realistic that no one has noticed the difference? Hmm...

The pic on the No Cars t-shirt which is only available at gigs. I forgot to get one at the Bethnal Green gig, so I had to force myself to go all the way down to that London again a couple of days ago and visit The Victoria in Dalston where they were playing - just so that I could buy one.

In this vid you'll see evidence that Japanese speaking elephants go "Pao", Japanese speaking cows go "Mō", and also that Japanese raccoons like traditional folk dancing.

It's now officially Christmas! No Cars said so, sort of. Here's Haruna giving us a bit of a lesson in Japanese...how to say Christmas in Japanese, its クリスマス (kurisumasu). If you listen to the song you'll hear mention of the traditional Japanese Christmas lunch - turkey KFC. Here's the relevant language lesson, or if you want to watch the whole gig, it's all here for you scroll back to the start of it. I also did some rather shaky filming, but mine is still hiding in the camera. Unfortunately during one of the following songs, the microphone on this person's camera picks up the sound of some guy talking on his phone to a mate. Amongst other things he says, "I'm at a No Cars gig, they're really good, I've seen them before." Then Haruna's guitar lead starts acting up. Not the regular line-up tonight, but still fun as always.

Maybe "cold turkey" is just grisly No Cars poetics. Regardless. Eat your, um, heart out Ronald McDonald. Your burgers will shrivel under the heat lamps on kurisumasu dei. If only I could have No Cars at my kurisumasu pāti.

Haha, I don't think the Colonel does any fowl but chicken. Maybe "cold turkey" is just grisly No Cars poetics. As I'm a vegetarian I've no idea exactly which sort of foul food it is that the Colonel dishes up to meat eaters, but I'd a feeling that No Cars may have been getting a trifle poetic with mention of cold turkey. I had been wondering if turkey was a special seasonal offering, perhaps for Japan only? I have noticed that the Colonel's veggie burger thingy is way better than the equivalent veggie mac attack, and his tea is also usually better. I don't remember which member of SK posted this pic, but here's her "Christmas party with KFC" in 2012...

Haruna summons volunteers with the gravity of a necromancer raising the dead. I don't know why the whole audience doesn't levitate and float onto the stage.
Good natured sarcasm is my favorite form of casual humor. It's doubly ironic.
Now if I could just figure out the farming angle.

... I don't remember which member of SK posted this pic, but here's her "Christmas party with KFC" in 2012... Eww. SK eats some of the greatest dishes and some of the worst with equal enthusiasm. KFC wouldn't have to change its menu for JP since they have no history with geese and turkeys at holidays. It would only have to convince them that any kind of bird meal tradition made it more like "Christmas". Pheasant, ostrich, aren't they about the same? And KFC delivers gift-boxed! Not to me, though. I am vegetarian too, since long.

...Now if I could just figure out the farming angle. Well, Haruna claims that she comes from rural Japan, and I guess she's indulging in a bit of fun with wordplay. I love the way that in Japanese, orange juice ( オレンジジュース ) is pronounced "Orenjijūsu", and beef cutlet ( ビーフカツレツ ) is pronounced "Bīfukatsuretsu". I'm sure most of us know that icecream ( アイスクリーム ) is "Aisukurīmu". But I still don't seem to be able to learn Japanese... The Japanese word 農家 translates into English as "farmer" and it is pronounced Nōka. If you want to risk overindulging in those lovely Santas from my viewpoint, I've stuck my version of No Cars full set in Brixton here... The audio that I've put on this vid is of better sound quality than the camera's horrible audio recording. I'm embarrassed to admit that I left the camera's audio on the video of Haruna's seasonal Japanese Lesson - even though I had recorded something better. From time to time you still get to hear the crackles of the guitar lead breaking down.
