I've never seen them do Grand Ole Opry before! Somebody's always off-key with Crying Nut, it makes me a little crazy. Hey, thanks! It turns out V is really great and the Barberettes are captivating when they just sit down in a closet with a guitar and a cell phone. I can't believe they record in that dinky studio. The current lineup looks and sounds great, though. • Shinae An sarcastic idol vee-sign • Kim Sisters poster on the wall! • Sunny is adorable • 15-second cover of "Valerie" If they don't sing "Shinae is a Punk Rocker" it's probably because she's more of a '60s go-go girl.

Well, now it's thanks to the Barberettes channel at Naver's V LIVE that I know how The Barberettes do their faces and hair for a show. They had two smartphone webcasts devoted to this. I haven't found any way to apply my new knowledge, but maybe someday. Shinae An is not the eye expert, but Sohee's occupied on her own right now. Hello, though.I don't know if it's instinct, genius, luck or good advice, but these little online get-togethers are likely to get them a lot of new fans. It's working on me. Gluing stuff to your eyelids with cotton swabs and metal tweezers is "like playing with dolls." Did you glue my eye shut? The Barberettes are fun to hang out with. They don't forget they're broadcasting, but it's completely casual, like you just got invited into their dressing room for 20 to 40 minutes. There's a camera operator and a stream monitor, sometimes the same person. Everybody's in a good mood and occasionally pretty funny. Eye transformation 90% complete. "We need a lot of makeup." Shinae An is half bandleader and half mom to her girls.Fans can chat to the group, and the group talks back. "Say my name!" "Cheer for the Junior Class please!" "Where are you, why are you doing makeup?" "I'm watching from Brazil." "Who are you?" Hair is Shinae An's specialty. She learned from watching videos and trying stuff. And studying pinup girls. This is indie, right? It's great that you have perfect pitch and teach voice, but can you get an up-do together in a boiler room 45 minutes before you have to go on, in a city where you've never been before? You couldn't see? Should I do it again? When there's free time, I ask people if I can braid their hair. Shinae An says what they do to get ready any night of the week is more trouble than you'd typically take for a wedding. But the act doesn't work without glamour. Shinae An thinks the pheasants on her scarf might be ducks. Let's sing "Seoul Sister". Wow, where did the time go? See you at the show.

This is about the time they like to start... the last one was a disaster, no signal quality and after two tries they gave up! Too bad, because it was looking interesting.

Hollywood Bowl!! Not all to themselves, of course, it's a huge review. I got interested for a minute, then read that it's the wrong Casbah. Four dates, just a kiss on each coast of the US, and two in the general region of Toronto. Maybe they have to get back to KR for work on Wednesday. Sheesh. Wouldn't want to skip this announcement completely. On the 9th, Sohee was, like, 17 years old. Or 37, IDK.

Something new on their V-channel. They did a 10-minute video chat with one song, a very informal "Valerie" including some improv'd ornamentation. They weren't trying very hard to do a webcast, it was just a Skype call from your KR girlfriends. Showing off Sohee's new look probably a major motivator; also making sure you know about their tiny NA tour. vlive.tv/video/7679⓵ You're so pretty! ⓶ Sohee > Barbie ⓷ Chat w/ 1K viewers worldwide ⓸ "...ru shopping anywhere? changed the color of ur hair?" ⓹ Bye-bye!They have natural charm, so just hanging out is fine. Sunnie's peppermint pink outfit... I don't know. It works if you insist, and are Korean. Shinae: as always, the bomb.

Now with english subtitles. I wonder who's doing the subs, and if it's a service of V Channel or what? The comment about Shinae An getting her vocal folds treated made me pay attention. That could be anything from rest, exercise and a change of habits to surgery, but they don't explain...
