COACHELLA 2018Otoboke Beaver just announced for the 14th of April at Coachella 2018 (the first Saturday). They're actually squeezing this in ahead of their UK tour. It's only the one set, three days later they're in Glasgow. Otobi explain apologetically at Bandsintown: This festival is an exclusive performance so there will be no more north American dates aside from this—sorry we only have 1 week of holiday to fit USA/UK tour.I can't even hear them over the bitching about the lineup at Facebook. My favorite burn so far: "They did a poll of girls 7–14 and this was the line up they all wanted." OB are one of like two rock acts, not counting X Japan which is a special case. Tickets on sale at noon Friday, Pacific Time. With its usual laser accuracy, Bandsintown locates the only music festival associated with Indio hundreds of miles to the north in Sacramento. What the hell is wrong with this world, there's no way I can go. I hope they can connect with the Coachella crowd. They are certainly going to stand out. This is a big expensive play. These girls have gumption.

I bought a Gibson Thunderbird rather economically at the Wakayama HARD-OFF. I loved it, but I found it constricting during a vocal. Although on the second day I felt like taking it back, that evening watching Hirota-san from Otoboke Beaver on the SXSW special that was broadcast last year gave me a kick in the pants. What in the *hell*, please excuse me!
I couldn't take a photo of what I'm talking about, so, from the other day

Linked from the OtoBi Instagram, the article just says, hey – J-rock at Western festivals is good. But it would be hard to overstate that. WHY COACHELLA'S SPOTLIGHT ON J-ROCK WITH X JAPAN AND OTOBOKE BEAVER IS SIGNIFICANTWhen 2017 proved that visibility for Asian artists was more important than ever, enlisting two unique Japanese artists is a refreshing twist for typical U.S. festival lineups 2018 JAN 03 by Jeff Benjamin for FUSE www.fuse.tv/2018/01/coachella-2018-x-japan-otoboke-beaver-japanese-rock-diversity Long-running, glam-rock sensations X Japan along with punk quartet Otoboke Beaver are slated for the festival, both playing the Day 2 shows on April 14 and 21.
The inclusions bring a refreshing breath of diversity to not only the increasingly similar U.S. festival lineups, but also give a major opportunity to two of the Japanese-rock scene's most exciting bands that offer a similarly thrilling experience to their Western counterparts. 〜〜〜〜〜 Another way to say it is, Coachella would be an empty overblown bore without them, and J-rock needs a US audience just as much as vice-versa. Basically, you have X Japan and Otoboke Beaver holding up the rock torch in front of a whole generation of hip-hop and electronic pop fans. And there's nobody else at all comparable to do it with them. You might have known this day would come, but it's still amazing that it's here. JP schools the US about what rock is. The usual headline writer was out sick last Wednesday, I guess.

Shinz, thank you as always @alltoz696 Pictures from the end of last year at Misono Universe I have the feeling that there's nobody in the world but shinz for properly photographing drums this way… I'm thankful. It makes you wish the photos were a little bigger. If you click through to the original tweet, they're huge. Shinz has an Instagram account too, but it seems like the majority of his photos go to the clients to be released. He's working for hire instead of publishing on his own. It seems that his handle is pronounced Shin-Z. http://instagr.am/p/BeOo48WhnDF Photos by @alltoz696 2017.12.27 It's rather rare to be photographed while singingSame three pictures stacked, but smaller. The moment of song kind of just looks like Pop is biting a towel rack.

Otoboke Beaver in Osaka 03 February SCUM PARK at Shinsaibashi CONPASS
The hype is in!
Otoboke Beaver @ Shinsaibashi CONPASS "Yome" Coming into the back beat in the middle 8 The swells are intense and cool It was finished.
U.K.〜USA tour preparation It's spot-on.
Yoshie-sans' raging but never messy rhythm guitar, the stable bottom of the rhythm section, a voice overflowing with soul. Western bands appearing at Coachella can't beat this! I watched today's show. If David Byrne is around he might get a pleasant surprise.
Change Shisaibashi CONPASS to a California desert area, and SCUM PARK to Coachella. Exhilarating.

You may have wondered how they work out the rhythms for some of their songs... Hirota struggles to write the passage down, while Yoshi sounds it out mnemonically as fast as she can say it, and Pop grimly watches Hirota try to get her head wrapped around it. Then they all sound it out… but not quite together. They sound like witches working up a spell. Accorin records it all somewhat sadistically. 12345 | 12345 | 1234 | 1234 | 123456 | miminitako | miminitako | mimitako | mimimimi | miminitako-do |
Oddly, mimi ni tako sounds like "octopus at ear".

Look what they've done to my songIt's on playlists everywhere, but with the title spelled wrong Because it was entered by our British label, at Spotify and Amazon etc. the Japanese song name is metcha incorrect,
Properly, it's あなたわたし抱いたあとよめのめし ‼️‼️‼️‼️ It will be fixed tomorrow...😢 Let's be clear. The title is: あなたわたし抱いたあとよめのめし | Anata watashi daita ato yome no meshi | After you slept with me [ you ate ] your bride's cooking
Not: あなたわたし抱いたあと嫁の飯 | Anata watashi daita ato yome no meshi | After you slept with me [ you ate ] your bride's cooking
Get sloppy with the kanjis and everything is completely spoiled. To be completely serious, this is one time when writing in kanji is confusing instead of clarifying, because there are a couple of other common ways to pronounce 飯 meaning food, sustenance, a meal, cooked rice. So Accorin's got a legitimate beef. Otoboke Beaver - 'Anata Watashi Daita Ato Yome No Meshi' あなたわたし抱いたあとよめのめし2018 FEB 22 by Damnably (02:00) "Anata Watashi Daita Ato Yome No Meshi" is a new single from Kyoto’s Otoboke Beaver, releasing on Febuary 23rd digitally on Damnably Records. Order @ otobokebeaver.bandcamp.com/
Recorded, mixed & mastered with Ippei Suda at LM Studio, Osaka-Japan. Two songs for £2 GBP or whatever more you'd like to throw down. Metcha cheap, for lossless.
