Excitable abandon, of teenagers... Shonen Knife review – cult Japanese trio serve up childlike punk-pop4 / 5 stars Summerhall, Edinburgh The Osaka rockers bounce through their catchy numbers with the excitable abandon of teenagers2016 APR 29 by Malcolm Jack for the Guardian / Music www.theguardian.com/music/2016/apr/29/shonen-knife-review-japanese-punk-pop On their new album, Adventure, Shonen Knife’s idea of freshening up their sound is retreating further into rock’s primordial ooze by paying homage to AC/DC with Rock’n’Roll T-shirt.
…you’re left not lamenting this band’s almost childlike simplicity but wondering why most other music has to be so complicated. With a couple of generic agency photos from the gig. It won't change your life, it's just there. Naoko tour blogwww.shonenknife.net/blog/archives/19883 Atsuko tour blogwww.shonenknife.net/blog/archives/19906

A load of boring softball questions, and a bit about British bands and championship tennis. Exclusive Interview: Shonen Knife On Food, Tennis And Music2016 April 22 by Roxy Simons for MyM Buzz (MCM Expo Group) www.mymbuzz.com/2016/04/22/exclusive-interview-shonen-knife-on-food-tennis-and-music/
MCM Buzz: “…my favourite <men's tennis star> is Juan Carlos Ferrero who is now retired so I don’t know if you know him.” Naoko: “We know him! He’s very handsome. I would love to write about tennis again. When our last UK tour finished two years ago Atsuko was there to help us with merchandise so we went to see the Aegon Championships in Queens and it was really good. There were many of my favourite tennis players there like Ernest Gulbis, Feliciano Lopez, and Jo-Wilfred Tsonga. It was a lot of fun, so I should write another song about tennis! If Kei Nishikori plays in the London finals I will definitely come back.”
