Part Deux: why so much quiet about the little tour announcement and "Hawaii" making-of video? I like the "Hawaii" song and the "behind the scenes in the studio" video. No shots of Naru on bass but she's included in the background vocals lineup, and a quicky shot of Ritsuko on bass. Poor Naru, I'm afraid you were right about the "trap door" being under her. The girls are so nice though, they are really trying to include her as being a part of the family and in the activities of the group. This video starts out the same as the Christmas recording from 1991; it seems they are going retro on a few things, like this video, them sitting on the stairs picture, the outfits, Naoko bringing back the Flying-V, etc... I tried to order a copy of "Adventure" from Good Charamel the other day, no luck. Maybe in a month or so they'll be taking orders for the new CD.

From the Damnably website, not sure if it's already been posted here already, but we were all wondering about the content of the new album: "Japanese cult pop punk trio Shonen Knife celebrate their 35th Anniversary this year with a brand new album Adventure, which sees the band delving deeper in to the 70s rock leanings that they explored on their last album Overdrive. As Naoko explains; “passing through the 70s, the music genre which was born as rock’n’roll developed to ROCK. This album is like that.” Musical references include Thin Lizzy, Motorhead and Deep Purple, but of course, this is Shonen Knife, so there is still an excitable pop element to the music. There are catchy hooks and 60s girl-group inspired harmonies along the way but the album is firmly rooted in 70s Rock." Also we can pre-order "Adventure" from here: shop.damnably.com/ And I believe you get the nifty tour poster if you pre-order.

... we can pre-order "Adventure" from here: shop.damnably.com/ And I believe you get the nifty tour poster if you pre-order. Good Charamel picked up the gauntlet. Shipping 01 April with a limited-edition badge premium. Adventure CD pre-order at GOOD CHARAMELDamnably talked of a vinyl LP option for those who are quick to their mark. That hasn't made it to the web store yet. I'm sure we'll be apprised when it does... Nothing at all so far about a potential LP version so far in any other geo region. Rule Britannia. Damnably's description of the £9.99 + shipping CD on the order page doesn't show anything about printed extras. Adventure CD-only preorder at DAMNABLYNow (for us in the USA) it's Good Charamel with badge + quicker, cheaper mailing versus Damnably with printed gizmo maybe? + foreign airmail + currency conversion... (add £5.00 or £10.00 air shipping to Royal Mail World Zone 1, for a total of £14.99—£19.99, around $22–29 USD or $30–40 CAD) But it's tempting to wait for a vinyl announcement, if you are someone who waits for vinyl announcements. Always true to its awesome, official Japanese label P-Vine does not even list 「アドベンチャーでぶっとばせ!」 ( Adobenchā de buttobase!, Jump Into Adventure!) on its SK artist page as yet, but it's in their news and you can preorder the CD on Amazon.co.jp for ¥2,700 JPY. Damnably says all CDs are from the same master, so outside of JP it's for masochists completists, as I gather. In Australia, the distributing label is Valve. Just saying.

Oh. Yes, so it does did. Thanks for the catch, I must have been in a real hurry. But it's not like it's a bad thing, I could have linked you to anybody. Kanye West. Not like it's a bad thing.

Nice one Tan - jokes at the expense of drummers, the gift that keeps on giving. What do you call a drummer who's just split up with his/her girlfriend/boyfriend?... Homeless! Now if you'll forgive a spot of lazy plagiarism, and allow me to lower myself to the level of a lead guitarist...

Interviewed by Marc Riley 14 April 2016A little bit lonesome, all by yourself behind a rolling acoustic baffle."BETTER THAN EVER", after a radio date on his show. Which you can listen to online for 30 days. (96kbps stream, Adobe Flash required): bbc.co.uk/programmes/b075qbtwThis was just before the show at the Ruby Lounge, with ATP looming in Wales next day. It's a nice two hours altogether. Shonen Knife's segment picks up at about 19:50 with Naoko's slightly stiff introduction of the current lineup. MR: [Atsuko,] you're a great bass player, but you were the original drummer… AY: Yeah, right… MR: So — you're just showing off, now… AY: Yeah, I… I can go front! (laughs) MR: …I've seen you playing quite a lot, and this — the sound check was just, like, the best I've ever seen you… They come back again from 46:20: MR: So, over the 35 years… what would you say was the highlight of the whole career…? NY: I should say… it's now. I'm talking with Marc, so is the highest. AY: OHHH... what a great answer! [ironic applause] It's a lie though — AY: Ah, yes. No! No-no-no-no-no… NY: It's true… and one more is when we opened up for the Ramones show in Osaka in '90s… all of us went to eat dinner, so… it was very good moment! SK do three numbers from Adventure. Everybody gets to display their signature. 21:00 | "Jump Into The New World" at a frisky tempo, set by Naoko. It feels better than on the album! | 46:20 | "Green Tangerine" Risa carries it off with some pitch wobbles. Challenging cold start before a radio audience. Remembering to say "ffood" not "who'd" is such a hassle. | 54:00 | "Wasabi" Atsuko is full of can-do spirit. Risa has the backing vocal all alone. Naoko a little bit cautious with her playing. |
Risa is talked about, but spared any on-air talking. They're done as of 57:00. Marc's dead right, overall they sound awesome.
