The 1000th show selfie from Shonen KnifeI'd been wondering what they'd be wearing for the 1000th show. Obviously it just had to be this wonderful outfit, classic SK. This makes me wish even more that I'd been lucky enough to be there.
Another new bass?
That's "glossy girl". She bought it on the last N. American tour when the other one broke. It's a Daisey Rock bass. They must keep it in storage here in N. America since it never shows up overseas.

Extract from Naoko's tour blog about Shonen Knife's 1000th gig... It's a shame that Atsuko had "Flying Gallstone Attack", but SK still performed her songs. I assume those would have been "Don't hurt my little sister" and "Goose step mama"I'd initially been just going to put the setlist here for posterity's sake, but I just had to include those few lines before it. The 1000 th gig is a start point and Naoko's going to keep rockin' as long as she can. Sure, she has promised us that many times in the past, but its always great to hear her keep saying it.

As someone who suffers from gallstones, I can tell you that you haven't experienced back pain until you have an attack

Thanks for the info. Ritsuko just had to be playing a bass from Daisy Rock, the Girl Guitar Company. Well, for a start the maker's name is so cool. They make some really nice instruments. Yesterday, as I was walking past a music shop in town there was a guitar that screamed. "Look at me!" from the window. It was a super-shiny, metaflake, Naoko-pink Daisy Rock "learner guitar". Just like one of the Sirens from Greek mythology, it was calling to the students as they pass to and from college. I hope it inspires someone.

Ritsuko Rocks Chicago! I was walking down the street in Toronto Sat night before the concert, I met up with Ritsuko and we walked and chatted for about half a block, nice girl and now I know for sure, shorter than I am. Also got to chat briefly with Emi before the show, and guess what? I saw the 3 standing together offstage and now know something I have been wondering about.... Emi is the tallest present member of SK! (I am 5'1", Emi must be about 4'11" or 5' as she is just a touch shorter than I.) I am getting my concert report ready... should have it here soon

I'm disappointed they didn't play Spider at their 1000th gig. That was the song I voted for.

Now I'm thinking it was "glossy girl" that broke. So they went to the Daisy Rock factory and bought the silver one which she also named. I can't find that blog entry.

I don't know if this pic is of any help. It's from the 2011 America Tour. I can't remember where I downloaded it from, probably Facebook or Twitter. image uploadingThe info about the image says Date Taken 2011:11:06 11:31:09 In my computer the pic is called "I named my new Daisy Rock bass Ginji - "silver boy" in japanese 4.11.11 San-Francisco.jpg" I named this (trimmed) pic after Ritsuko's quote which came with it and added the date and where, so there's a slight discrepancy with the date information, but that's nothing unusual for me.

Yeah "Silver Boy" that's it.
I have a pic of them at the factory show room from that year. Naoko bought a guitar also I think.
