Thanks for posting that potential setlist. I see that Naoko has tweeted to say they've been practising the number 2 song which is also #2 on the official list, "Miracles". It'll be interesting to find out how many songs they do on the night. Will it be an extra-long set? O perhaps a more regular length show which often can be up to about an hour long. I wish I could go. It'd be nice if SK did film the gig, not as good as being there, but a small plaster on the raw wound caused by not being there.
It's nice to see Tortoise Brand at the top, that's a great one live, and SK themselves seem to particularly relish doing that one. It is also good to see the lack of requests for Ramones covers. I had a distinct impression at the Windmill gig where there was a voted for setlist that Naoko was somewhat annoyed about getting asked to do so many Ramones songs. So well done voters. There's a nice mix of old stuff and not so old stuff in there, I guess there's no songs from the latest album in there 'cos they're just too new to be all time faves yet. But a couple are almost there there, Dance to The Rock and Shopping both great live, Also from Overdrive, the songs Black Crow, Ramen Rock and Green Tea are excellent live.
BTW, I had thought that Tortoise Brand and Miracles were both on Minna Tanoshiku, Or at least they are on the rather poor quality download that I've got.

True about Minna Tanoshiku, but the superior versions appear on Burning Farm. To be fair, yes it does qualify. I'm sure the poster wanted to just list Spider and I'm A Realist which doesn't appear anywhere else.

Oh dear, SK have also asked for no flash photography and no filming of their gigs in America. So it wasn't just us in Europe who were asked not to flash at Shonen Knife. And I'd been rather looking forwards to seeing some decent American videos, especially at least some of the 1000th gig. But no doubt not everyone will have seen this request.
Dammit, I should have robbed a bank.

For those of us rabid fans who are not living in America and who didn't win the lottery or rob a bank, those nice people at Good Charamel have been kind enough to upload a cute map for us to fantasise over. You lucky, lucky people. Ah well, perhaps I'll spend tomorrow hunting around the junk shops for old magic oil lamps. With a bit of a polishing I'm bound to release a genie who'd love to go to some Shonen Knife gigs with me.

Great show in Brooklyn, NY last night.
SK hit the stage hard and had the most energy and fun I've ever seen from them.
Ritsuko was especially animated. She always moves around a lot, but last night she was really giving a show.
The stage at The Wick is large so they were all moving around a lot. Even Emi who grabbed a cymbal stand at one point and run up to the audience hitting it.
The set list was odd. They did like 5 food songs in a row.
The other two bands were very good also, especially "The Suzan". Their music is hard to categorize, but they were very cute and energetic. They really got the crowd moving. Watch this Band. They are going places.
Yoko Nips (from the Hard Nips) was in the audience. And everyone from the first two bands joined the crowd for SK's set.
There was a lot of respect for SK last night.

There was a lot of respect for SK last night. That's great to hear, they are now a fantastic tour band and deserve to be appreciated. Naoko left college, not knowing what to do with her life, she started a little hobby band on a whim and 30 yrs later, is reaping the rewards of all that hard work (does ANY band work as hard/tour as much as the knife, these days?).

Poor Atsuko, not only is she ill, but she'll also have to miss out on this special show. I wish her a speedy recovery.
