WHY would ANYONE throw an ambling country & western changeup in the middle of _Super Group_? Deer Biscuits is really a return to the early SK sound from the late 80s/ early 90s. To me, it resembles Michie's "Expo 90", the most. That's just it! That's what I'm fond of. - You're Shonen Knife.
- You’re getting a new album ready, fully produced.
- With a theme, even! Sort of.
- Deer Biscuits is off-center, but it pleases you.
- Should you include it? What would the Beatles have done?
- Yes, it’ll be fine right after the Sabbath-inspired piece.
Of course it will! Please play whatever you want. Here, sit on my couch. Do you like cookies? Oh, I’m so happy!

I agree, deer biscuits is wonderful; I too love the fact that it sounds like something you might have found on Burning Farm, 712 or Yamano At-Chan! (I hope Naoko never stops making THAT kind of song, now and then!)

Naoko - All that is Shonen Knife 1960 - The year it all happend - Naoko was born Naoko is about 9 months older than I am And I am about 18 months older than Naoko, and I really have a thing for good looking intelligent Asian women, especially ones that are musically inclined. Sounds like a match made in heaven to me. What, you say she's already married and has a teenage daughter? Darn it, I'm to late! Where have you been all my life Naoko? It's a shame we couldn't have met in 1980... I just now saw yours and Tan's replies to my question about Naoko1960. Thank you gentlemen for that. Now I can turn down my level of excitement, lol!

I agree, deer biscuits is wonderful; I too love the fact that it sounds like something you might have found on Burning Farm, 712 or Yamano At-Chan! (I hope Naoko never stops making THAT kind of song, now and then!) My screen name was EBierke, just my first initial and last name combined. Then I heard "Broccoli Man" with the big booming walking bass intro and said: "That's me! That's my new screen name!" Not just here, but on Google+ as well. Deer Biscuits, Broccoli Man, Parrot Polynesia, Butterfly Boy, Catnip Dreams, Ah Singapore, Another Day, all of those songs are what separate the run of the mill Shonen Knife music from the genius that Shonen Knife has produced in the past. In my SK quest for SK knowledge, I'm finding their earlier music is what I'm liking best about the band. The Michie influence? I think so, and that brings forth the talent and genius that Michie contributed to their early sound. Deer Biscuits and Broccoli Man are from "more recent" albums and IMHO keep them grounded in their roots from Burning Farm, 712, and Yamano At-Chan. In my scattered chronological exploration of their music I know there will be more tunes like the above mentioned ones. Another day, another gem!

... I'm finding their earlier music is what I'm liking best about the band. The Michie influence? Well said, I think. You'll get a lot of agreement for that. To me, Michie's stuff is the dash of unknown bitters that makes the cocktail. If Naoko's left of center, Michie's far enough left to go clear off the edge... in a middle-class Japanese way. Give me just one band member to take to lunch, I don't have to ponder about it. OK — since you asked: • Miniature golf: Atsuko • Gamer convention: Ritsuko • Climbing wall: Emi • Petting zoo: Naoko I'm not holding anything against Naoko. It might be that she steered away from u-u-ultra eccentricity because she just doesn't have it. But I'm pretty sure, once she was convinced that SK was a real enterprise, she wanted to... turn pro. Which means emulating your idols. And even if it's good practice, that is not a very original thing to do. But she made a nice job of it. SK became a well-running machine, once it stopped veering into the ditch. It's still Naoko, the lovable nerd-girl with rockstar ambitions. I'm not crazy to hear so much about her tennis game, but I definitely want her to get out a little more so she can tell us about it. I mean, I consider "Map Master" just about a perfect tune.
