"Kimi to boku" becomes "YOU AND I"Mitsuyo's AMEBA blog for 20 August
ameblo.jp/jinnyoops-mituyo/entry-12303167328.html
TL;DR• Violinist Martin is a real mensch
• Bandleader Hitomi pushed for the all-English version of "Kimi to boku"
• Japanese is the true language of poets and songwriters (sorry, Naoko)
• Mitsuyo and her song survived
a clusterfcuk translation by committee… barely
• It all turned out in the end!

Kimi to Boku Tour 2017 START! NEW MV "YOU AND I"
Have you watched it?
youtu.be/XTxfQ4AzcZA Two songs recorded for this single
Recording the same song in completely different arrangements
"YOU AND I" English ver.
New JinnyOops! Challenge
Another world that three people can't express
Acoustic Guitar: Mitsuyo
Piano & Bass: Chihiro
Drums: Hitomi
Violin: Martin
Guitar not actually Martin's thing
Martin came to Osaka from Tokyo specifically for the sake of this alone
Performing with no rehearsal, this song brought me close to my feelings
Reading the lyrics
He said to me, "You want to die?" with a slightly worried expression
He said it with a bantering feeling; usually that covers up embarrassment
I didn't get the words out right away
No, I don't want to die, not at all
But I was touched by this
metcha kindly guy
<= So, I've given up on any adequate translation for metchaAfterwards
"What do you have to die for? Because it'd be fine if I just did ××× to your partner!"
Laughing as he was making his joke
Metcha kindly guy, Martin
As if he were ready to fight
Although he's a deep and gentle person
As if he were ready to fight, though
〜〜〜〜〜 SKIPPING SOME STUFF HERE 〜〜〜〜〜
To write about the song "YOU AND I"
Although we had accomplished a good song
Based on the usual band arrangement
We discussed doing the same song in a completely different arrangement
We're asked to do shows overseas
Futenma-san may have said or may not have said something along the lines of,
"Would it be good to do it completely in English, for instance?"
Though there was an English version I had done privately
Frankly we didn't reach agreement until close to recording
I was feeling that I wanted to sing it in Japanese
I like Japanese above all
I think that there is no language for expressing one's own emotions with such delicacy
I don't know, it might be only my ignorance
But Japanese is wonderful
Oh—
California Rock 'n' Roll
ROSS DEATH MONEY
Seemingly they're something apart
[ English ] is good for those
Since "Kimi to boku" is a song of real substance
With my scanty ability in English
I thought there was no way that its view of the world would be transmitted
Even though it's my own song. This is something I've never experienced until now
I was continually dragging around a feeling akin to irritation
In completing the lyrics
Friends at home and abroad gave me all their energy, they let me borrow their power
Mari (HI-FI COFFEES)
Kiyohide Miura (KUSABANA)
Takehiro Funabashi

I have [ many ] grateful feelings toward everyone who collaborated, although the
biggest one may be obvious, to have my lyrics read and understood. I felt
metcha uncomfortable about the rapidly changing lyrics.
The sense that my lyrics are becoming not-my-lyrics
The sense that my song is becoming not-my-song
I can't hold on to it as it was, it's gone away
Myself personally, I was aware of a major obsession regarding words and
melodies, but I didn't realize it was like this.
I was sick of [ relying on ] my own strength.
Truly accepting what they're doing
such feelings being contrary to everyone's good will, for one thing
<= I can't make satisfactory sense of thisIf it were likely to be destroyed, truly that is the pits
With recording coming soon, reading the lyrics many, many times, singing them
At last it became a thing of my own
We were coming home in a big way, I thought
I got personally familiar with it in a big way
A burdensome song —————————
I'm truly sorry, everyone
I truly thank you
We accomplished a wonderful piece
Deliver it to the world!!!
YOU AND I!!!
