New Year's tribute to an old friendhttp://instagr.am/p/BOzJGvPBCN6 My SG has some manly modifications For knobs, one is enough! It's mine! It's a partner that's been with me through good times and bad, for many years In my younger days, during a show I did a London Calling… Bucky broke… It's only now that I think I did a really terrible thing After that, it's given way and collapsed a total of three times In truth, it holds up really well Let's rock together again this year #2017 #SG #jinnyoops #RumorthatLesPaulmadetheSGforhiswife #somethingwonderfulA lot of people besides Mitsuyo like SGs, and her SG. Kaori Nishi, Gt., ex Suck Piggy, says, "I still LOVE SGs — I want to sound like an explosion" (Mitsuyo approves). Micchan says her electronics mods (ripping out all the control pots and having just one knob for… what? Master Volume?) are a righteous, studly specification. This may remind you of Johnny Thunders adopting Gibson Les Paul Jrs and TVs, because anything with more controls on the top was too hard to manage when he was doped up. Mitsuyo is using the kanji character 漢 which you see in comics about fearless musclebound heros. There are other ways to write the same thing that could be interpreted as tomboyish. Not for Mitsuyo, she rocks a butch guitar and that's that. At the same time, she's using a personal pronoun that makes it sound as if she and the guitar are family. Cute. "London Calling" means copying Paul Simonon's famous try at chopping through a stage with his Fender bass while it was plugged in. Of course it was Pete Townshend who popularized this way of caring for a Gibson SG. When it was brought up to him, he said something like, "Fucking hell, it's not like it's some Stradivarius — it's a bloody SG that came off an assembly line, I can buy another just like it next week." Somehow I like Mitsuyo's attitude much better. If you look at the customized SG of Ichirou Agata from Melt-Banana, it appears to be older than he is and he doesn't seem in any hurry to replace with the latest-greatest.

For the first time in 2 days today, We played together with the horn team It's gotten dramatically better
It was clearly in our grasp to do a worthy job In those circumstances, I can do it no matter what The people who are coming are steadily increasing I'm overflowing with inspiration!http://instagr.am/p/BO9I5e6BMwt 2 days left until the one-man show We're fired up 2017.1.9 JinnyOops! 15th anniversary First one-man Umeda Quattro
Come see for yourself You're welcome, looking forward to it1 dayOne after another, everyone in the regional and overseas groups has been heading toward Osaka. The Osaka group too will be cheering for us to do our best. The staff is also giving it all they've got.
It still remains to play the one-man tomorrow, though!
Such spirit from everyone is the very highest senmame to me. An original member dropped off provisions for tomorrow, thank you!Senmame is magic beans from Dragon Ball Z. I didn't know that either. [ 2 ] days left until the one-man show My lazily tweeted one-man countdown finally got this far I for one am glad that this one-man is in no small part the driving force pushing everyone. To be surrounded by all of you LIVE tomorrow is something of which I am very proud. [Those] feelings will be [with me] on stage. The blue Dymo label is from the repair shop at MIKI BASS SIDE in Shinsaibashi. Chihiro had a temporary tuning machine swapped out for a factory replacement. The omamori bag hanging off the G peg is too clean to be anything but this year's. We did it and did it. Did we do enough???At midnight in the studio, 3 Jinnies were awake
Speaking of things I can do today On behalf of my overused voice I guess all I can do is things like grating ginger I put that in tea with honey, all I can do I guess
Thinking I wasn't thinking
When I'm not doing anything I get restless I'll just get a good feel of the guitar Pre-one-man blue
It goes on and on, about their worry and their uncertainty and their appreciation for the support they've gotten and their regret for spamming people about their show, and their hope that it will be an amazing time for all concerned. I'm pretty sure it will be. The rhythm section always does its job, and once Mitsuyo hits the boards she becomes an overdriven guitar fury. And tonight, there are those phat horns on top of everything. Now they just have to get to the hall and get plugged in and do the show. 0 dayshttp://instagr.am/p/BPAI90LDU62 [ Bandmen • To All Concerned ] After the show tomorrow, we're having a big one-man cast party at the Zeela livehouse. Thank god that's over, let's do it againThey being them, I'm fairly confident that the band woke up with heads the size of watermelons the day after their Quattro blowout. All the members retweeted the official photo right after it was shot, and then radio silence. 2017 January 09, JinnyOops! 15th Anniversary Celebration one-man show, successfully concluded! A large number of people came to see it in person. To all our visitors and guests, and those who sent support from a distance, thank you very much! JinnyOops! Photo by Hiroshi MaedaEarly reports are all from non-combatants. http://instagr.am/p/BPCnUDGF0JJ Full house!! Impressive!! Quattro doesn't make the capacity of the Umeda club very public, but just by counting noggins it looks like 250–300 people fit OK in the orchestra, with maybe 200 again in what are effectively two rear balconies. Mitsuyo was projecting that some people bought tickets who had no intention to come to the show, because that was the only way to acquire the MOTTAINAI mini-album. Just as Hitomi is the music director, Mitsuyo is the business manager. She compared the whole event to a Pandora's box. About 300 tickets have been sold by hand
Until I open the lid, I do not know How many people will come, I do not know
Honestly, it's a lie to say I'm not worriedSurprise, surprise — people turned out for a one-of-a-kind special show they can tell their friends about forever. http://instagr.am/p/BPCvoVEhHpk The comment is in Kansai dialect laid on so thick it might as well be Pirate Talk. It's completely giving me a headache, but the gist is that Kin was blown away and very happy about it. JinnyOops! are sempais to Suck Piggy, I guess. Kin partied too late and missed the last Shinkansen back to Tokyo. Under confusing circumstances, but it's a bad miss. It turns an under 3-hour trip into an all-night ramble, and there's a pricey fare to recoup somehow. I guess the photo is her lap cradling her wallet, her can of Asahi Super Dry and her cancer sticks, and a useless ¥14,650 ticket. She had to go home by herself on the slow boat, beery and sentimental, getting in after dawn. She finished up with, "Bands — so, which is the greatest I don't know, but what I think is, the greatest one is this one ☆〜(ゝ。∂)" jungles!!! might have a question about that comment the next time they have a show together, but they did send flowers to the JO! dressing room. http://instagr.am/p/BPCzhbthWyQ I'm harping on this, I guess. I realize it. Ahh, I cried again, it's deeply moving, deeply moving!!
It was at Sakaihigashi GOITH that we met, the horn squad broke off, there were various things, from here!!GOITH was an early Jinny stronghold in the part of town where they grew up. Next Kin quoted two verses of "Raimei Shocking" from the criminally under- appreciated Mother Shock! album. Kin brought it on her portable for the ride. On auto-repeat, I expect. You're crying about now Most likely crying about now Telling lies is fine I understand Hey, I'm laughing You're holding someone about now Holding this one or that one Was there love there? Are you happy? Hey, laugh
You're crying about now Most likely crying about now Don't run away Have faith Touch me You're holding someone about now Holding this one or that one One person seemingly alone You must be lonely I am tooThere's a lot of time for reflection on love and life when you've got an uncomfortable seven-hour ride on the night bus.

Song from the Mother Shock! era. The peeking through the closet door effect is just weis metal's way. I can't explain it, he could tip the phone over. Wicked pixel zoom on that thing.
Imachi from Osaka BEAST evidently came with his horn-playing friends to support on rhythm guitar, not to be left out.

Minoh is a scenic hill town within commuting distance of greater Osaka. Lol the tote bag from Amoeba Records San Francisco in 2015. Every which way, a duet performance Oh, they're so entertaining
Table TennisSince it's impossible to drink and par-boil yourself for 16 hours a day, larger hot spring resort hotels like to offer other family activities you can do in a bathrobe, including bowling. Jinny members suck at ping-pong! But points are points, so a victory dance! Every which way, a duet performance Oh, they're so entertaining
Swordfight theater edition (it's technically 3 people)For my regrettable part in this travesty, I must apologize with my life. Every which way, a duet performance Oh, they're so entertaining
Karaoke show edition (Guest Mitsuyo is drinking, everyone else is sober)This year again, the members celebrated! The trio lazing around at a hot spring 5 people lazing around at Shizo's house The greatest day off Truly I thank you Thanks very much for all the messages!Stumped about a gift for the punk guitarist in your life? Anyway, it's cold. I want to take it slow. So they took her to a hot spring town famous for nature trails, monkeys, and temples. There are lots of photos of goofing around in a shopping arcade, and zero photos of the band in the bath (sorry). Mitsuyo said, "I gave my mind an exemption." Brain holiday! As if it went on forever* Mush-mouth Kansai dialect for obasan, "aunt" — any woman out of her nubile years ** Mitsuyo is 光, ray of light, plus 世, the world, society, the public. Kind of a heavy handle, although the first thing you think of when you hear mitsu is "honey" (like what comes out of bees).

Last post about the one-man showProbably It's been about two weeks, isn't it old news? Yes — old, but not dead. It's a very big thing when an indy band consisting of 3 rock 'n' rollers does a show in Tokyo on its own responsibility. All their scene supporters and suppliers and colleagues were holding their breaths to see if this would work. It turned into a tacit test of whether the last 15 years amounted to anything. If they had flopped, I'm not sure the band would have continued into June. The guy who opens in the morning had to help them up (kidding) (I think)Mitsuyo said she was being irregular about blog updates, because she slept for nearly 3 days after the event. Although it sounds self-important to say "speaking out", what with band management being visibly over-capacity for the three of them alone, I honestly had no choice but to come out with it.
At first I opposed going to France, I declined to travel with them. It was because there was no way to cover tour expenses with band funds at the time (in my innermost thoughts I was dying to go).
Just when discussions were stagnating, as if from the hand of God, came talk of contributing a song, making an appearance in an INDEED commercial.
This CM, flowing from a one-man show on the previous day, not only became a valuable experience for the band members, but also solved the cost problems of the French tour in the blink of an eye. [ From ] what it had become, the atmosphere seem to change to something more like, "Well now, will you be coming to France?"
The shift in the members was eye-popping after they decided to go to France.
Proposing that they'd like to go on tour before or after Japan Expo, opening communications with Nanbu-san from SMASH WEST who handled Fuji Rock, we finalized negotiations to join forces on an Inspector Kluzo tour.
So it was that we spent 11 days traveling to Marseille, Angers, Nantes and Saint-Brieuc. The airport in Nantes – did the baggage handlers break our stuff?JinnyOops! Video Clips of France Tour 2016 on YouTube (05:43) JinnyOops! Behind the France tour on YouTube (03:05) FIRST TALK OF THE ONE-MAN EMERGESI remember that talk of a one-man live came up just before the French tour. I consulted close music business associates about Jinny, in addition to the band thinking it over on their own, and with no big to-do we jointly decided to pull together a one-man show.
It was the band who chose the venue.
I was hardly involved in the activities for the one man, an old photographer friend Mayumin-san (Mayumi Saito) joined for support, which was centered around Abe-san of SWOON Records.
Abe-san had the trio meet with staff who were experts on the location, used his muscle to get the 7-song CD MOTTAINAI linked to the ticket, made the preparations while they were touring everywhere over the course of the year. Busking in winter weather for ticket sales Can anyone tell me the right way to carry two guitars?THE DAY OF THE ONE-MANThe three from Jinny were still nervous on the day, but I was in an objective position and I was fairly optimistic. A lot of staff, mainly from Abe-san's productions, were at the site from early morning. In addition, members of Boiler Rikugame helped manage, and members of Bacho who came to enjoy themselves took the initiative on their own, supporting the sale of goods when manpower was exhausted.
And above all, there are the guests. Rather than looking for a good performance, I expected that people gathered on the day would be thinking, "I want to cheer for the band to dare beyond their reach, I want to be there to see it," and I think this was actually the case.
No one was there to kill time while waiting for another band. In that moment when all the vectors were lined up in the same direction, I couldn't see failure as the result. There was only success, or *big* success.
The first one-man in the band's history was a big success.
The floor was packed tight all the way to the third level with people not only from Osaka, but Hokkaido to the North, Kyuushu to the South, even Taiwan. The venue heats up from the start, and the band responds with an all-out performance.
MC-ing between songs, when Micchan would express her gratitude in a trembling voice, there was an audible sound of sobbing from the floor. When I think of each and every guest remembering the time they've shared with Jinny, I now find myself moved to tears.
What it took the band 15 years to cultivate was condensed on that floor. No more rehearsals, next time is for real"Looking at this scene today, I understood how it's possible to have done this for 15 years… today [ this place ] is packed with reasons not to quit, reasons to keep going, that's what I think." These words that Chi-chan uttered before the encore, I believe were expressing the feelings of all the members. LOOKING BACK ON 2010—2017Non-existent planning, overall weakness in negotiations, dislike of money calculations. The three members are by nature uniformly all alike in their lack of skills.
Because a friend's band calls them just for a single show, they do the round-trip between Osaka and Tokyo without putting together a tour. Previously, when I showed them their organized income and expenses for one month, they went quite blue in the face.
I thought, the band has been going on this fashion for over ten years.
In my opinion, that three such persons have the backing to make a success out of a reckless one-man show is frankly a matter of having accumulated FAITH and HOPE.
With nothing but the integrity and frankness of their natures, without any flattery, without so much as a "how are you?", from an open stance they plunge straight into another person's heart.
Furthermore (although it's the result of following their own instincts), Fuji Rock, the overseas tours, the one-man live challenge — the people who watched over them embraced the great HOPE.
The number of guests gathered at the one man (including the people who could not come) is the collective value of the FAITH and HOPE accumulated over 15 years, I think. Because it wasn't augmented by clever promotion (even if it could have been done). It's not as simple as, if you blow on it, it will fly.
Although it was a clumsy way to do it, that day I noticed again that a terribly important thing about keeping up a band was steadily seeping into me.
I think that Jinny is a really happy band. They're helped by many people, a source of support for great self-challenges that is ongoing.
The three people on the stage that day must have seen a beautiful sight far beyond their expectation. As one of the staff, I am very proud of that and at the same time I am envious.
I think that Jinny is a really happy band.Takehiro Funabashi photoThe image Funa-san chose to end his essay is one he should know well, since he shot it. It's the band in San Francisco early in the second week of August, 2015. They are there on an inspiration to record "California Rock 'n' Roll", a song they whipped up in hotel rooms to celebrate their J-Pop Summit adventure. They're going to be assisted by their engineer-guitarist contact Ryo, whose stoner-metal band AUMA has a studio in the Mission District. But Ryo is about to flake hard. He doesn't show up for hours and hours, and when he does, he spends all the studio time trying to install unfamiliar software on his new laptop. Unsuccessfully. So Jinny passes the afternoon standing, pacing, skipping around, shivering in the street and sitting on a dirty sidewalk in a creepy neighborhood, their lips turning blue on an August day so windy and cold they can't believe it. Their precious day off is a waste, it's not been at all pleasant, it's completely Ryo's fault. It's going to get worse, not better. And still, there they are, smiling and joking around with each other. 信用 Credit, confidence, faith 期待 Expectation, promise, hope Going blue in the face: it's what they say when I would say, "turning pale". A really happy band: he used shiawasena. Shiawase is more than a light heart. It involves being happy in the sense of blessed by good fortune, which is yours not by accident, but because you deserve it. Photos are mostly swiped from Mitsuyo's blog.

And then the kind of feelings we went through, the nervousness before the start and the relieved expressions afterwards, come out from many different angles. Set of 29 photos with some really nice candid shots. Mayumin is friends with everyone there, so they let her photograph whatever she wants, and this is what she's best at.
