open up at The Brighton Bar on the CJ Ramone + Shonen Knife 2015 US tour.
Considering CJ's playing style, surely adjustments were needed.
This is
Naoko playing, not Atusko as you would otherwise expect.
Details, details.
It's Jesse's video, so it's his privilege to stand in front of the musicians, and it's mine
to hate the way he does it. He's not simply spazzing around, he's adding some strokes
to a couple of his works with a marking pen. The punk action painter par excellence.
Arms 6 inches too short. A black marker is my pick for pictures, hahahahaha. Naoko's blog entrywww.shonenknife.net/blog/archives/18879On this day, CJ couldn’t come to the soundcheck because of he had an
appointment and I played his bass at the soundcheck. His strap was
too long for me. I sat down and played. Emi's blog entrywww.shonenknife.net/blog/archives/18920One day I missed breakfast, and go to the place to eat at the hotel.
The cleaning of the breakfast place was already begun.
I took out a mysterious object from my bag, put it in a cup and
poured boiled water.A cleaning lady asked me “What is it?”.
And I answered proudly “This is Japanese Miso soup!”
with my hair bed-headed from sleep.Atsuko's status on this tour was: Support Bassist with Distinction.
She didn't blog anything between Christmas 2008 and her official
return to active duty in April 2016.

...Former Ramones bassist and singer CJ Ramone, who played with the band in the late ’80s
through the mid-’90s, will be at the Brighton Bar on Saturday, June 20. The show is part of a
co-headlining tour featuring CJ and classic punk trio Shonen Knife.
In 1998 Shonen Knife, an all-female power trio that counted Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain
as an early supporter, opened for the Ramones at a pair of shows in Shonen Knife’s hometown
of Osaka, Japan, as part of the legendary band’s farewell tour. Recalling the shows with her
heroes in a 2012 interview, Shonen Knife lead singer Naoko Yamano said, “I was so happy,
and after the show all of us went to the Hard Rock Café in Osaka and we talked, and I got
autographs from them. They were very kind to me.”
Yamano discussed the first time she heard the Ramones, a band whose influence is still clearly
heard in her work with Shonen Knife. “It was a long time ago, when I was a high school student,”
she said. “I listened to the radio and I think some Ramones songs, like ‘Sheena is a Punk Rocker’
and some other songs were coming from the radio and I was so shocked. It’s punk, but the
melody line is very pop, so I went to the record store to get their albums.”
In 2011, Yamano and company got the chance to pay tribute to the Ramones with the album
“Osaka Ramones,” which saw the band covering 13 of the band's classic tracks, including
“Blitzkrieg Bop,” “Rockaway Beach” and the song that started it all for Yamano,
“Sheena is a Punk Rocker.”
