You realize this is a vaudeville act that occasionally careens off into klezmer. Japanīsu kurezumā...

Oh you terrible person for saying a dreadful thing like that. The image of Haruna with a big bushy black beard suddenly springs to mind. But I guess she's got a few of the moves, so...

The image of Haruna with a big bushy black beard suddenly springs to mind... Naw, dude! Fleecy pink beard is kawaii, black beard is... for pirate. Or for surf band with a shtick. I'll never see more Fender Jags on one bandstand at one time. Even the drummer seems to have one. Like ZZ Top in prayer shawls. Except no groove.

Pretty much sums it up. I'm glad to see their corporate mission statement is ready for the public. Much of today I walked around with this in my head: i'm hooked on my cress i'm hooked on my cress / hooked on my cress i'm hooked on my cress / hooked on my cress i'm hooked on my cress / hooked on my cress OH YEAH i'm hooked on my cress etc. Juicing for Health says watercress has many therapeutic properties and has been recommended for hangover and as an aphrodisiac. But safe to say, there's nothing that hasn't been tried in those two departments. Curiously, no reference to legs.

Yeah, cress is pretty addictive, and now you tell me it is also very useful to the health-conscious, though quite which therapeutic use Tomoko takes it for, I couldn't say. Perhaps it also helps with motion sickness on roller coasters. I've not had cress stuck to my teeth since Tomoko last fed some to me, but I'd happily eat more in the right circumstances. I have been fairly health conscious of late and have had another booster shot against mundane existence and boredom. It was administered by No Cars at the drop-in health clinic which is also known as Underbelly, in Hoxton Square, London. No cress was served and perhaps because of that Tomoko looked particularly grumpy as she was so hungry and she told us about it in a song which Candy Tanaka introduced with a limerick. Haruna told us that they had been teaching their raccoon how to speak English and this was the result, spoken in slightly broken English... (Or something like that.)Then it was straight into her song, "Hungry". A reworking of "Wasted" by Black Flag which came to a slightly confused ending, I think that Takaco may have some issues with falling over stage gear, but at the time I only had eyes for Tomoko. I'll try and get round to posting some pics and stuff, but at present it is all still hiding in my camera.

Well, I did say that I was going to post some pics of the gig, but I haven't got that sorted out yet. But will this do for now? Just one song from the middle of their set and by far the messiest song of the whole set. Probably the messiest I have ever seen them play. But it is so much fun and I love it and I just had to upload it to YouTube. Don't worry, I did send the vid to No Cars first to see if they minded me making this one public. If you enjoy this song half as much as I do, you'll love it. Or perhaps you just had to have been there at the time. No Cars have declared this "Messy as f***" Tomoko is very angry and very hungry. She hadn't eaten any cress! You'll notice a certain amount of pointing of the "Finger of Blame". Takaco wound up on the receiving end of it, she'd just lost her place in the song. Twice. But as Haruna said, it wasn't as bad as the time when Takaco fell of the stage. H. "Do you remember?" T. "Yes... sometimes."

Unfortunately No Cars haven't got any gigs coming up for a while now. But they have announced one for May 23. And even better is that it is with Kinoco Hotel! I've got my ticket booked. www.facebook.com/events/1563637673918027/

...I've got my ticket booked. Can't really lose, can you? It still works when they can't even get through a song!
