Coupla profiles from recent weeks with a common anchor in the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in LA from the end of last month. First, Dazed Digital with the best Q&A I can remember seeing in English. They are trying to call WedCamp EDM, though. If that’s so, then EDM now means electro-pop. KOM_I just wants everyone to be more chill and have a good time. We meet KOM_I of oddball Japanese group Wednesday Campanella before they play Hong Kong’s Clockenflap and Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festivals18 OCT 2017 by Erica Russell for Dazed Digital www.dazeddigital.com/music/article/37774/1/wednesday-campanella-j-pop-interview-camp-flog-gna“I want to be in a position of intersection, with many genres and cultures crossing paths – which makes it even harder to catch a true image of myself. I don’t believe I’ve done anything to be remembered for yet, so I’ll do my best.”〜〜〜〜〜 GQ magazine is on top of the trends, so you can be too. No need to divert valuable looking-glass time… Wednesday Campanella Is Big in Japan—And Soon, Everywhere ElseBY REBECCA HAITHCOAT / PHOTOGRAPHS BY EMILIA PARÉ www.gq.com/story/wednesday-campanella-profileInstead of J-pop’s stereotypical cutesy costumes and girl-group choreography, KOM_I is cool. She’s individualistic and stylish, and it sets her apart from the pack—as does her vocal style…Style, style, style. Naturally GQ’s editors were as much interested in KOM_I’s casual wardrobe picks as anything else. The writer maintains there’ve been no international breakouts from Japan in, oh, forever. I guess she means arena-sized tours. But even in that case there’s BABYMETAL, so… one more publication that doesn’t believe in research.
