BimBamBoom
Or ビンバンブーン or Bim Bam Boom or Bimbamboom or BBB or…
〜 Tako-Fried Funk & Soul from Tokyo 〜
Miyoko with clockwise from top left: Gt. Aiko, Sx. Sara, Ba. Maryne, Kb. Ayumi
"Papa's Got a Brand New Pigbag". Haha, sweet, they cover it!
BimBamBoom is a project of drummer Miyoko Yamaguchi, who's been
supporting tricot on tour since recording with them on their album AND.
It's an ensemble of young hip Japanese women doing their best to sound
like old black American men.
I don't know that they have the same chicken fat under their bridge saddles,
but you ought to hear them when they're rolling. It sounds like they might
at least have a vacation spot near Memphis.
They sneak in some rock because they can't help it. The drummer and
guitar player egg each other on. They don't sing, so they chant instead.
BimBamBoom are:
Miyoko Yamaguchi (dr)
Aiko Oka (gt)
Ayumi Tanaka (kb)
Maryne (ba)
Sara Maeda (sx)

The horn player's really something. Their drummer… her sound is kind of rock.
But she has perfect posture!! And now, they don't just do sessions. There's
a full album — Tiger Roll will be on iTunes June 1st, in stores June 22nd.

BBB Sessions Vol.5, Tokyo Shinsekai 2014.12.6
This is a great seven minutes. Frankly, I can't always believe this
sax player. Where does she get that?

BBB Sessions Vol.9, Tokyo Nishi-Azabu New World 2016.2.25
Original tune that sounds original. There's a little bit of Rio in their
New Orleans. Why'd they have to fade?
BimBamBoom "O.E.C. Tiger Roll"

BBB Sessions Vol.8 Tokyo Nishi-Azabu New World 2015.12.12
Shows its roots, but OMG. There's a lot of rock to this funk. Bass break
at 02:33, first time I really liked her. "O.E.C. — Tiger, Tiger Roll".
"O.E.C." sounds just like oishi, "tasty". Funny.

BBB sessions Vol.8, challenging a new song in rehearsal!
They made their practice session private after I posted this.
Not very fun of them, but maybe they'll change their minds.
