Karia Nomoto ( 野本 かりあ), known by her nickname "Karly", born March 1, 1974, is a Japanese model, DJ, and vocalist, known for her work with Pizzicato Five member Yasuharu Konishi. With her straight bangs, sixties style minidresses, and a repertoire loaded with French pop, bossa nova, and adventurous sampling, Karia Nomoto bears more than a passing resemblance to Maki Nomiya. So it shouldn’t come as any surprise that she is signed to Readymade Records, the hyper-fashionable label helmed by ex-Pizzicato Five mastermind Yasuharu Konishi. youtu.be/_MubPhGFQBU

...Karia Nomoto bears more than a passing resemblance to Maki Nomiya... I think that's really reaching. Revive the formula, okay, but we already have a Miss Maki and that one has more stage presence than this one is showing here...

...and in that photo she's showing a lot! But I agree she looks nothing like Maki. Maybe she's showing less than it looks like. I tend to hope. But, for example, modeling in your skin for the color gravure trade versus rocking out on a stage with your band is a spinning merry-go-round for a certain sort of 3rd-tier multi-purpose celeb, three of whom come instantly to mind. I remember Tokyo Girls' Style publishing an actual thoughtful article about it. The net take was that fame and fortune have become much more important to everyone involved than whatever it is that gets done to maintain them. We don't care about that. Drama, advertising, art, music, fashion, sports, politics, all means to an end. The end is just to keep the personal brand aloft. David Bowie's penetration got so shallow that, below a certain age, average folks would see sentimental tributes, think "David who?" and not feel embarrassed when told. So by one measure, his star had gone dark for real. This is bad for people with serious aims in life, it goes without saying. Said to be second nature to an entertainer in her young 20s, though. Anyway, Karly comes from DJing for the club kids, a gig where you personally are much seen but not heard and have not always got a lot to do. Cue slide, please. In this photo, we see Skrillex with a hand of solitaire open on his laptop while a crowd gets into a frenzy. So, I'm sure she's on top of that game. It's not like being a chanteuse, and it's the wrong kind of style icon, so when someone says, second coming of Maki, I'm kind of doubting. But why should she be? Maybe nobody even wants that, maybe it's nothing but a lazy journalist's hook.

Interesting. She linked to a stereo re-tread of a monaural final mix. Why this, why now? Well, it is the 50th anniversary year, so… 〜〜〜 In the revised accepted version of the story on this song, it was tin-pan alley songwriting for hire, written to spec from standard tropes by Mick & Keef. They didn't much believe in what they were doing at the time. When producer Andrew Loog Oldham legendarily said, "it's a hit," he can only have been thinking of his other protegée, the wanna-be folkie called Marianne Faithfull. Sour-grapes accusations of Beatles plagiarism really only apply to the eventual arrangement of the Stones' own version a year later. No arranger could have failed to be influenced by "Yesterday". You can't make much out of that, unless you want to drag in the Byrds over the 12-string guitar part. The idea that Mick or Keith owe a lot of the songwriting to anyone else is silly. It's just not the same as any of the supposed models. The best compilation of the details I can find is here:
AS TEARS GO BY by THE ROLLING STONESAlbum: December's Children (And Everybody's)Released: 1965 Made of copy-pasta, hearsay and recollections by staff and a gang of passersby www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=457Keith (1992): "I thought, 'What are we doing here, playing the f--king blues and writing these horrible pop songs and getting very successful?'"Mick (1995): "I wrote the lyrics, and Keith wrote the melody… You know, it's like a metaphor for being old… And we didn't think of doing it, because the Rolling Stones were a butch blues group." It was the beginning of Marianne, and she in her turn helped launch British folk-pop for flower children worldwide. But both things would have happened without this song. Bob Dylan and Donovan would have seen to it. In 1964, "Tears" already has a corny studio-standard string section plus one loud oboe, and goes at an incongruously brisk amble. 1964 HITS: As Tears Go By – Marianne Faithfull2017 FEB 23 by MusicProf78 (02:36) As Tears Go By (Jagger-Richard-Oldham) by Marianne Faithfull, produced by Andrew Loog Oldham
