Another band that's opened for Shonen Knife in Japan ! We love Lolita No. 18. Here's Masayo proving that the Japanese can fly.

Lolita No. 18 hits the stage last night www.lolita18.jpHmm would like to see them play here:) They have done many times, as one of the oldest Benten Label bands (1989 or '90!) and I'd love to see them come back for Japan Nite, but that's the only way I can imagine it really happening.

What had me leaping about and fist pumping like a young punk at his first ever gig? And that was at the ungodly hour of 8.30am!... LOLITAAA!! free image uploadingscreen shot on windowsBut I was also fortified by rather a lot of strong painkillers. As I'm such an old git, by track four I thought I'd better sit down in case I did myself a mischief. Then after the CD finished, I played it again with exactly the same result. More thrashing about with thoughts of "Ooh me back! Ooh, my hips. Ooh, my knees! Ooh, my shoulder!". So I sat down for a bit. The third play had the same result except I resisted sitting down for a little longer. "OOH, ME BACK!!! Nurse, pass me my walking frame!" Yeh, my copy of LOLITAAA!!!, the new album from Lolita No.18 arrived today. Woo-hoo!!! Thirteen tracks of moshpit friendly straight ahead sing-along Punk with a few brief nods to Hard Rock thrown in for good measure. There's a healthy chant of "Oi! Oi! Oi!" going on here, and a nice spot of "Hey ho, lets go!" The album was released on 1st April 2016 and it took me a few weeks to find somewhere to order it from, then a bit longer to actually order it, then an age in the post and now it is here and I am very happy with it. Here's the trailer from AA Records for LOLITAAA!!! to give you a taster... Here's the second track on the album, "Combat Boy, Combat Girl", this is one of the songs that gives us non-Japanese singing fans a little something to get our lungs around... The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed a new drummer, Chi-Chan. The new album marks the end of TO-BU's involvement with the band. In the credits in the lyric booklet, it says "Special Thanks TO-BU!!!" It is a great album and I heartily recommend it to anyone who likes their Punk spiky. The band also include thanks to Dr. Martens in the album credits, so it definitely deserves to be given a good listen.

The band also include thanks to Dr. Martens in the album credits, so it definitely deserves to be given a good listen. I like it spiky, spicy, or any other way they want to serve it. I admit it takes me a couple of minutes to get past the quack factor whenever I listen to Masayo sing. Just not enough listening, I guess. They completed the TAKE IT ALL album tour, and then went right on touring around Japan. There's a nice photo record on the official blog. lolita18.jp/lolita18blogWE ARE RORI–TA: L to R: Vo. Masayo; Gt. Kick; Dr. Chi-chan; Ba. TakochiThere's also a tribute to outgoing drummer TO–BU, who stayed just long enough to get the album and the tour lineup safely to bed. Blast-center rhythm corps: sushi vampire Takochi and stick master TO–BU (front to back)2016 May 04 Takochi ★ Letter of appreciationlolita18.jp/2016/03?post_type=lolita18blogDear TO–BU-chan. As the exact opposite of a [real] bassist, being in the rhythm corps was definitely hard. During recording, "TO–BU makes me cry" and "TO–BU's murdering me" are some of the things I said! Takochi is Eldest Daughter in the Lolita No.18 family. As guitarists got replaced, little by little I became the big sister; but, always taking care of everybody, I also envied the little sisters getting recognition for themselves. Although working hard in my own way, it wasn't within my power to do it alone. I got this far because I could come to you for such a lot of support and advice. I said TO–BU makes me cry, TO–BU's murdering me, but at the same time TO–BU's smiling face, TO–BU's spark of life were running through my rhythm-corps dreams. As the direct disciple of Mother TO–BU together with eldest-son/youngest-child Chi-chan, since from now on we've solidly formed the bakushin tag-team — the rhythm corps sisters — please be watching over us somehow. The things I learned at the breast of Mother TO–BU will be running through Eldest Daughter till the very last. Thank you, TO–BU. Someday the day will come again when I can play with drummer TO–BU ☆.。.:*・゚☆.。.:*・゚ 〜〜〜 Bakushin is the term for the center of an explosion. She used non-standard kanji that stand for bomb burst + forward progress. Make up your own equivalent.

Thanks for the translation tangerinesun , due to the inadequacies of translation software, most of what happens in Lolita No.18's world leaves me mystified. So usually I just look at the pictures and check for videos and wish I was there. The first time I saw a video with the new drummer, I thought "To-Bu's lost a lot of weight, and so quickly too." Then, with freeze frame and a blurred picture I was "What? Is it, isn't it...?" Then I recognised the face from pics and seeing her in the crowd in gig videos, did a bit of searching and realised what had happened. DMs, over the knee socks and great music. LOLITAAA!!! kick

OMG they had acid in the teapot at Nippon Crown. Analog tape video SFX and body doubles unfamiliar with musical instruments. Around the year 2001, supporting this on music television, you have to figure.

What, no Kick? Right, no Kick no more.
Guitar KICK left to get married, suddenly Lolita No.18 appeared as a three-piece. Vocal Masayo Ishizaka initial impulse guitar explosion!
Audrey called Masayo "brave" about 8X. I say, if she can pull off the lead guitar, then let's just go "Yay!" and shut up about it, before she gets the idea there's something she should be scared about.
No word on shopping for any replacement. This is all kind of abrupt.
Kotobuki-taisha, congratulations resignation, is what office ladies do who leave the workplace to become homemakers.
Since that doesn't quite fit, maybe the picture is more complicated or little Lolita No.19 is on the way?
Longtime bass player Takochi, still solid to all appearances.
