Hello,
My name is Tom, and I'm new to the forum. I'm actually just a casual Shonen Knife fan, but I turned to this forum to see if anyone might help. I'm looking for anyone with information on XA record. The label operating from Hirakata, just north of Osaka City who released the Shonen Knife demo. If anyone knows the whereabouts of the person who did this label, or if they have been involved in any bands or labels since the 80's, any Shonen Knife interviews where they talk about their initial era, and any information relating to XA or their demo release, I would be very grateful for you to share this information. The catalog number for the Shonen Knife demo is "XA-2015" Releases started at "XA-2001" and I believe there at least 20 releases on the label. Also a long shot, but if anyone has any releases on XA aside from the SK demo, I would love to discuss the possibility of trading for them, or purchasing them, even if it is not an original copy. Hopefully someone here might be able to help!

Hopefully someone here might be able to help! YIKES That XA-2015 music cassette is better known as Min'na Tanoshiku Shonen Knife. The best info I have seen on XA is at www.discogs.com/label/1073024-XA-Recordwhere there's a compiled list of 18 titles on MC, vinyl and acetate. The traditional lore about XA Record is that it was a DIY label started by members of Die Öwan for the purpose of releasing their own work, although their own album Öwanism is the seventh in their serialization. Because official production runs were so limited and long ago, there are bound to be many more bootleg copies of releases from the XA catalog than legitimate ones. Random person chaosnonmusica says: copies on plain white/black shell with stamped label are sold with permission from XA Records. XA Records owner hates collectors and wants copies to be kept in print.Chaosnonmusica is a dealer in certain hardcore rarities, but does not say how he knows something like that. Die Öwan (ディ・オーバン) were a high school band that broke up after graduation and apparently took the label with them. They pre-date the world wide web by a long way and the references I see to them online are by people who know little, or are mystified. For example: A request on mixi for information by a user who saw them once long ago mixi.jp/view_bbs.pl?comm_id=436135&id=3045119 An archived Yahoo auction page for a vintage Japanese Maxell UL 46 with blank factory labels that looks newer than the day they wrapped it: aucview.aucfan.com/yahoo/r91953243/ Tweet about a lecture called "Do You Remember Radio Cassette Rock?" twitter.com/i/web/status/825322184281190400
