I guess that what I need to do is to get is some of those Japanese rocket shoes... These will get you to the London terminal, anyway. No license required, and no fossil fuels. bionic boots at NY Maker FaireThey'd certainly make the walk from the hotel to the gig much quicker. It also looks like they also come with inbuilt non-stop go-go dancer action. But it looks like you can't switch of the dance setting. Perhaps if the inventor gets some inbuilt funky moves for the dance-floor and an "off" switch for when you're not at a gig, then maybe.

Those great songs were on one album available on iTunes, with a maxi-single and a mini-album of punk covers at bandcamp, and a couple of cuts on We Love Tapsonic, available nowhere convenient AFAIK. bandlookandlisten.com/bandlookandlisten.bandcamp.com/I didn't see a lot of Japanese bands representing at Zandari this year, I wonder what happened with that.

Ooh, new album and a promo tour. Perhaps they'll come to the UK sometime soon. But in the mean time, I'm eternally grateful to 휴지필름 (Dormant Film) for this wonderful video. It looks like the person with the camera knows what we all want to see - those lovely shoes.

Wake Up live at YTIf the shoes were standing there empty I'm not sure I could maintain my interest for 2 minutes. As is, my ankle boot appreciation is dimmed by watching her kick at and step on the ridiculous curly cord. Anyone ever hear how their trip to France went? It's the only publicity I've seen for shows outside KR. There are real obstacles for a Korean band that simply stands up and plays cute pop punk while looking nice. Not so many people realize that they've waited all their lives to pay for that. The best thing for LnL might be to take a note from the Barberettes and try for a handful of dates in Canada next. If they could manage the cost and the strain on their regular lives...

Wake Up live at YTTrue, there may be only so much misty-eyed, soft-focus shoe gazing that a person can take in one video before getting distracted by something else. Unless its shoe-gazer music. I'd not noticed the curly lead.

Must be something wrong with me, I'd rather look at Misook than her shoes!

Shoegaze while gazing at someone ELSE'S shoes: you're doing it wrong.
My stage management self wants to smack anybody who sets their heel on a signal cable, because whose problem will it be when that thing starts crackling, humming, and playing police radio? First theirs, then immediately someone else's.
Every time I see an enthusiast almost trip over or disconnect a phone cord stretched across a stage like a clothes line, I remember how happy everyone was to get rid of those for what we thought was ever.
And they screw up your tone by soaking up high harmonics, if they're long enough to be of any use. And some people seem to like it that way. Where did we go wrong.

Shoegaze while gazing at someone ELSE'S shoes: you're doing it wrong. Oh, but, but, but... I've already seen my own shoes and while they're very nice, its always nice to gaze at other peoples shoes - to check out the competition and get some inspiration. Ah, well, I guess at a shoe gazer gig nobody would notice my mistake as everyone else would be gazing at their own shoes. I also enjoy a bit of sock gazing, well more than just a bit - I love socks. Stripy socks are a fave, but if they come to just over the knee to accentuate a shapely knee cap, then pretty much any socks send me to another planet. Some shoe and sock gazing, Another Girl, Another Planet... A nice cover of my fave song by The Only Ones. Haruna NO CARS has been writing a song for me about socks. We were given brief exposure to the joy of NC's new soxy song at Café Oto's Ura Mausuri Festival in place of Line Check at the beginning of their set. But the song is not yet fully knitted together.

It makes sense to me that Seoul would have the best gig shoes after London. And if you liked that tune... Song originators ECE are Emergency Call Equipment, a rock band from Seoul. facebook.com/EmergencyCallEquipment/Their version is a lot less Ramonesy. 이씨이 - 붐비세 (audio)2014 OCT 01 by 이씨이(ECE) (04:06) The album cut from their first, 나를 번쩍 ( Lift Me [to?] Glory, 2014) 이씨이 (YiSsiYi, ECE) live2013 JUL 28 by Kwang Kim (06:37) 2013.07.28, "Cassette Demolition" at Salon Badabi 00:00 붐비세 (Bumbi Se) Could be "Busy Years" or "Crowded Generation" 03:38 네야 (Neya) No idea, really

FIRST PROMOTIONAL VIDEO, FOR THE NEW ALBUM..... It's like the difference between 712 and Let's Knife, same band, same sound, but, highly more professional... MONSTER LOGOTYPEProduction values have gone up a bit. The blurb says it was the same engineer at Studio Dunbar, tasked with achieving a distinctive sound. And everybody collaborated on arrangements. No Mr. Page Porazzo executive-producing them to greater heights, they're highly indie. So far, this album is only available on Korean digital streaming and download sites. One nice thing is, those tend to have lyrics and production notes. Melon is one that'll let you preview a minute of any song even if you're not a customer (yet). melon.com/album/detail.htm?albumId=10029250 Mnet's another. Maybe a shade more convenient. mnet.com/album/1754445 Track 6: MONSTERLyrics: Kim Mi-sook (bass) Composition: Kim Mi-sook Arrangement: Look And Listen The monster in the dark The monster in the dark The monster in the darkness It is in my room The monster in the dark The monster in the dark The monster in the darkness It is in my room I don't believe it at the first time Cause I can not see it I don't believe it at the first time Cause I can't see the monster Knowing how careful you need to be in Korea, I'm hunching that this means more than it says. Their political streak hasn't faded a bit. They picked Jung-Min's tune "Fight Back" for an MV and a single in November — and it's like 10 bars out of 10 popular. Although it sounds slightly mousy, it's completely about taking protest to the streets. Want to change Want to change the world, If you want Stand up Let's go outside! Fight back Strike back At world Fight back That's why we have to fight back Fight back Strike back At world Fight back Now it's time to fight back Want to change Want to change the world You can say You can say that again Fight back Strike back At world Fight back That's why we have to fight back Fight back Strike back At world Fight back Now it's time to fight back Fight back Strike back At world Fight back That's why we have to fight back Fight back Strike back At world Fight back Now it's time to fight back Fall back, step back, stand back, fall back Fall back, step back, stand back Let's go outside! Fight back Strike back At world Fight back That's why we have to fight back Fight back Strike back At world Fight back Now it's time to fight back Fight back Strike back At world Fight back That's why we have to fight back Fight back Strike back At world Fight back Now it's time to fight back The other single, "50" looks to be about never quitting. They intend to be 50 year old punks. Ha-ha, they're such babies, that sounds like the limit of old to them.
