Hi, despite a bad sense of direction and a habit of procrastination, I managed to find my way here following an invite from mikado. He suggested that I come here after seeing something I'd posted on YouTube. I'd stuck it up there the vain hope that I'd be able to get it back again if my house ever gets hit my a meteorite, or (as so often happens), in case I do something totally stupidly inept with the computer. (Me and technology aren't very good playmates.) Well, sending copies of stuff to mates for safekeeping isn't completely failsafe.
And so, dear reader, I'll beg your forgiveness for me indulging in my near monomania for the wonderful Shonen Knife.
In case you're wondering I've been a fan Shonen Knife since the very first time I heard their single “Ah, Singapore” on John Peel's radio show, back in 1980something. He'd just got a copy that afternoon from a friend who was living (memory fails, but I think he said) in Hong Kong, it was their first UK radio airing. He said he knew nothing about the band but promised to find out. A few days later he played the record again and luckily I had a blank tape ready. I was hooked.
Somehow I lost touch with them for a while, (not being able to track down their albums etc. didn't help - pre-internet days) but the love of the knife remained and now the once yawning chasms in my collection are just annoying cracks. Very annoying cracks.
Oh yeh, I live in the UK in what local employers euphemistically call "a rural economy” and I'm sorry to say that I've got a sort of Frankie Howerd* / Carry On films / seaside postcard sense of humour. Oo-err missus.

And sometimes I go on and on a bit.
