KIRA-KIRA★SNIPER (キラキラ★スナイパー) On second thought, the KK★S thread is moved here because it's more that sort of thing. shonenknife.proboards.com/post/19001/threadRitsuko with her copy Les Paul in 1998 via Undown magazine No.13
〜〜〜〜〜 I tried adding hashtags because finding a forum thread with the text search field is so off-puttingly broken. Partial matching works sometimes, most-used terms are worthless, sort order is not exactly obvious, topic fields aren't prioritized, recent updates aren't prioritized, threads that should be dead-on relevant hits get missed out, and totally unwanted stuff is at the top in heaps. That's about all of the deadly sins for search. #kirakirasniper for example. Hope this makes a difference. UPDATE: Holy unique search term, hashtagging seems to work. If it works, it solves a problem I have over and over. Want to play along? See how much frustration could be avoided. Hashtags are justice at the Public Service Announcements thread: shonenknife.proboards.com/post/19004/thread

Ritsuko with a bouffant haircut... will wonders never cease? Well… not sure what makes you say bouffant. It isn't exactly Brigitte Bardot. Hair Dance would not be perfected for another decade. Not this Helen Williams in a 1960s layout, possibly for Ebony (?) More like thisHigh-end turn-of-the-century Japanese helmet bob jobWith a little of thisGirl of the Yanomami tribe demos indigenous New World kawaii Pretty much a chopped, badly-layered college pixie bob. Having a taper to the neck under a bowl-like top that practically had eaves was punky but chic. Still sort of is.

Ritsuko birth year exerciseRequired: 4th-grade reading / 3rd-grade arithmetic I know, I know — Ritsuko's age is a secret! But it's only a secret from lazy people! If Ritsuko doesn't want to tell me, I understand. Really, she has nothing more to worry about than Naoko does. And I don't feel excluded because I pretty much know anyway. 〜〜〜〜〜 Handy chart of the JP school system copied from the Tokyo International Communication Committee. TICC exists to "promote internationalization in local communities." That includes being an information resource for foreign nationals living in Japan. JP public education is modeled on the USA'sAge 0–5 6–12 13–15 16–18 18+ | Grade level Preschool Elementary School Middle School High School Junior College to Graduate School |
Essential to know: in the Japanese public school system, children entering First Grade are all 6 years old as of the April 1 start date. 〜〜〜〜〜 Ritzie's birthday is 21 July, so she missed her earliest April 1 cutoff by 3 months. She'd start her school career in April the next year, aged a little over 6 years, 8 months. If she went through the grades with no skips, no breaks, and no do-overs, she'd always be the minimum expected age, plus 8 months or so. Ritsuko said in her interview with Undown that Kira-Kira★Sniper was formed in 1997 on March 10. But college bands don't form before the first school day (almost always April 1) of the Freshman year. If the band members met in college, it had to have been in a previous year. The immediate previous year, knowing Ritsuko. Not one to dither around. That means Ritsuko's first year at college probably started in April 1996. So: if she took the intended path through the school grades, she was 18-going-on-19 in April 1996. As a decent hypothesis. 1996 was the year she turned 19. By arithmetic, that makes her a 1977 baby. Contemporaries with Etsuko (reported as 1977)Sanity check: the same source said Kira-Kira★Sniper dissolved in 1999. When does a healthy, gigging student band split up? In the graduation year of the oldest member who's moving away, or who doesn't want to live two lives at once. There's some reason to suppose that Kira-Kira★Sniper were classmates of the same age. And all that together agrees with the hunch that they started the band in their second year of college. 1996 — Entering year 1997 — Formation year 1998 — Attention-getting year 1999 — Sayonara year

New thing from the old show, and one answer as to why Litsuko needs bass practice at a time like this. Litsuko / Can't help falling in love (Elvis Presley)
2017 AUG 16 by Litsuko 721 (02:14) Litsuko Can't Help Falling In Love (cover of Elvis Presley) Bass and singing: Litsuko Drums: Kinako kinako-uta.com 2015 FEB 13 KinaChannel Vol.13 Daikanyama "Yagi ni, kiku?"Just a two-minute teaser b/c we don't need any strikes on our account or emails from the Presley estate. For this to be satisfying, you have to look at what's wrong but in the right way. The drumming's a crude distraction, the bass is burping all the way through a love ballad that needs a silky smooth legato, notes are getting sung off-key, and I only like the English because a Japanese accent sounds pretty to me. Kind of brave to have the clip on the internets to begin with. That's point one. 2) This is the first time L&K ever played together in public 3) They didn't have long to rehearse, both were busy at the time 4) Ritsuko is doing the vocal the hard way, with ornaments 5) Without hours of coaching and more hours of practice… how on earth are you supposed to pick your way through this minefield? Wise men say only fools rush in But I can't help falling in love with you Shall I stay? Would it be a sin If I can't help falling in love with you? Like a river flows, surely to the sea Darling so it goes Some things are meant to be Take my hand, take my whole life too For I can't help falling in love with you Like a river flows…6) It's Ritsuko, and Ritsuko wins because… it's Ritsuko 7) ⬆︎ Even if you've never heard of her before this minute, still About 60 hours before start on Saturday at 6pm, Japan Time. You can still reserve. Send her some good wishes!

Continuing to be rather businesslike about the Litsuko reboot. http://instagr.am/p/BX_xeYOg9ci Knife Ritsuko-san's solo live in the name of Litsuko Vol.3. Since her voice was not in good form, I'd like her to do a revenge live. A fun one-night, talking slowly on stage, I'm impressed by the ways of the solitary female musicians who live in Japan. On the Elvis cover, the baby went "Aaah, aaah," it was lovely that she was singing along. http://instagr.am/p/BYAQ7MkBFgY Ryo, the keyboard player of soratobiwo came. She's grown into a beauty.

Jojiman comes through, sort of.
If you're really trying to document a performer, singing along and beating time while you record from an on-camera mic… it's good to decide ahead whether you're going to be a customer or crew.

Litsuko ソロライブ2017「Music Square」 2017 AUG 24 by jojiman1029 (05:05) 少年ナイフ「ミュージックスクエア」カバー Shone Knife Music Square cover
More tender sit-down balladry with heavy breathing from Joji; also the odd word flub, off note, and bronchial frogginess from the talent.
Twitter comments made it sound like the child babbling and squeals belong to one celebrity child in particular.
Lady R seems "very happy tonight" on her own account, to be up there strumming and singing. Her intro praises the song as one that is both cool and well-known, with some other language that escapes me.
Maybe someone else can fill in the commentary.
