Hi,
I followed a link posted today on Dimeadozen and found myself here.
A lot of people tell me they got into Jpop through anime but I skipped that stage (I've never really been into anime although I've seen a few) and got into it because I heard a Jpop song on the radio. It was Pizzicato 5's "The World's Spinning at 45rpm". That was Summer 2001. Luckily for me Pizzicato 5 were one of the very few Jpop bands who had CD's released in the UK so I was able to buy one of their cd's a few days later. After that the internet was very useful, downloading songs from napster on a 56k modem taking about 20 minutes just to download 1 song. How things have changed!
As well as Shonen Knife I'm into Shiina Ringo, Go!Go!7188, Shinohara Tomoe, Yaida Hitomi, Hamasaki Ayumi, Hello! Project( and its vast array of groups - but I stopped following them a few years ago because too many of my favourite members left), and lots more.
Then there's the oldies that I've listen to a lot lately - The Peanuts, Ishida Ayumi, Yamaguchi Momoe. The Peanuts retired in 1975 and Yamaguchi Momoe retired in 1980 but I'm still finding songs I've not heard before thanks to youtube.
The only Japanese bands I've seen live are Shonen Knife, Yumi Yumi, Melt-Banana and Hangry & Angry.
Well that's it I guess. Hello.

Welcome to our little club, Egg_Crisis- I think you'll have a good time here, we have a few members from the UK already! Sounds like you have quite the repetoire of J-pop there (We got a section where you can make shrines to all your faves!) I also like several of those bands , and everyone likes the delectable Hamasaki Ayumi (Idol beautiful and an amazing voice). Anyway, don't be shy about bumping up old threads; unlike some forums, we don't mind at all if you revive a 2 yr old thread! (I've been at forums where they banned people for that; which I thought was rediculous!) Hope you have a great time here, btw, I don't know what Dimeadozen is, but, I appreciate the plug!
