Hi everyone. I really love J-punk girl bands and they seem to be on lots of soundtracks for anime.
How about a non-judgmental.. "here's how to get into Anime" ....slowly... find this one first... then this.. i saw Akira then Cowboy Beebop.. and I still cant really understand it too well.
Not a concrete "You must watch this and this", but an "I liked this when i first got into it" forum
I think that would help get the SK ppl and the anime ppl on the same page.
Just a thought .. Hope I get replys..

I like that idea, Julie Well, with me, it was obviously Ranma 1/2 , which I think is one of the best "Starter" animes, then I got into Slayers and Magic Knight Rayearth ....I think all these are excellent animes for beginners cause they have just enough of the weirdness and concepts of anime (Nudity[tastefully done], magic, transformations, violence, love stories where the characters feelings grow in real ways as the story goes along and yet enough comedy to keep things light)...of course, the BEST starter anime is Sailor Moon, after all, wouldnt Superman be SO much better if he were a girl in a modified version of his school uniform? Of course my picks have a lot to do with the time that I got into anime, in the early 90s!

I'm not into a lot of anime (although I have nothing against it) but I LOVE Hayao Miyazaki movies! And like several other children of the '90s, my first anime was Pokemon! LOL

LOL I also love Miyazaki; although, I found Ponyo to be rather weak in storyline and I only watched my copy of Porco Rosso once, cause I really didn't care for it. My favorite is Spirited Away, followed by the abstract work of art, Princess Mononoke.

It's one of my favorites. A very sad, realistic, moving movie!

It's an amazing movie alright, but, I doubt I could ever watch it again; it was just soooo sad, I cried like a baby! I cried the first time I watched it, too And I usually don't cry at movies! Except once I rented this Asian children's movie called The Magic Gourd. It was about this Asian boy who finds a living gourd that grants the boy wishes. Even though the Gourd is nice, he always accidentally messes things up. So the boy gets mad at the Gourd and tells the Gourd to run away. So the Gourd leaves and never comes back. And later the boy looks the Gourd and regrets getting mad at the Gourd and starts crying. And that as the end of the movie! I don't know why but the ending made me bawl my eyes out!
