I just read a message from Naoko on twitter. They are safe in Osaka, but of course they had to cancel their upcoming shows. Lets hope that this disaster does'nt get any worse than it already is...

The video of the tsunami litterally taking houses and cars (and likely people) and washing them away is truly terrible; I know a few people in Japan, I hope they are all fine

This disaster in japan is very sad. Do you think The band will not tour outside of Japan for later this year?

If you follow Naoko's Twitter and her Blog They are recording for the new album right now. Just before they left Buffalo NY 2010 they recorded some tracks at Good Charemel Studios too. So even though times are tough Naoko seems to be making tracks and why not A 2011 US tour.

I was thinking that they should tour NA first and could take donations for Japan during the tour (Giving Japan time to rebound a bit); then they could do their tour of Japan next fall, instead of this spring.

[glow=red,2,300]Maybe you could start a "Naoko's Twitters" thread[/glow], for those of us like myself, who don't have that service! (You wouldn't need to put EVERYTHING she Twits (?) on the posts, just the JUICY stuff! )

Hi Mikey You dont need twitter...Just go to the Japanese Shonen Knife web site and click on Naoko's or Ritsuko's Twitter link...Naoko is 1/2 in Engrish but just use the Google translator and convert the Japanese to Engrish...
Paste from Twitter ! In the studio today mixing some songs for a new Shonen Knife project in 2011 !!! about 2 hours ago via HootSuite Retweeted by ShonenKnife ‚â‚Á‚Æ‚±‚³‘–‚肱‚Ý‚Å‚«‚½B‚±‚±‚ñ‚Æ‚±–Z‚µ‚©‚Á‚½‚ñ‚Å‚·‚íB about 1 hour ago via web

I don't think they make any money now, donations should be made through another organization, don't you think? I know it sounds good, taking donations, but the small amount they would get, won't put a dent in anything.

[glow=red,2,300]Pics of the disaster from MacClean's magazine (The Canadian equivalent of "Time")[/glow] DISCLAIMER: Some of these are truly sad and a few kind of graphic, be advised! A young family who've lost their home A woman who has lost everything cries in front of the ruins of her neighbourhood The tsunami crests over the seawall at Miyako The wave takes out houses in Natori Houses burning in Sendai Perhaps the saddest pic of all, parents find the body of their daughter in what looks like the remains of a school bus During the quake Aftermath A search for bodies A Grandmother comforts her Granddaughter A family creates a makeshift kitchen outside their ruined home A young girl takes what she can carry, salvaged out of her destroyed home Nuclear accident and a baby is checked for traces of nuclear radiation Let's end on a happy note, a few days earlier, this 4 month old girl was litterally torn from her Mother's arms, by the tsunami; somehow, she survived the ordeal, was found safe and sound and was soon reunited with her parents! www2.macleans.ca/
