This is kind of weird, IMHO... I guess Naru will be the bass player on Japanese tours; while Atsuko will do NA tours and Ritsuko might play rhythm guitar, when she comes back??? ok... NOW I have a real problem, where BPC are concerned! o.0

NOW I have a real problem, where BPC are concerned! o.0 That would make sense, keeping Naru in Japan, and using Atsuko on the NA tours, lots of bands do stuff like that. Just the savings in airfare is a start, plus Naru can be in demand now back home. BPC?? Fill me in, please. No mention of Etsuko. Bummer. I like her drumming and energy a lot. No mention of Emi either. Double bummer. Ditto on the drumming and energy part. From Ritsuko: "I'm happy to hear that!! Congratulations for coming back Atsuko!! And Naru, welcome to Knife family!! Atsuko has been helping us a lot, so it's my turn to help for her. I'm busy with child reading now, so it's difficult to go to foreign countries. But I want to tour with them someday. I can play bass and guitar and I can sell merch!!
I hope to see you again, and I wish Shonen Knife will continue forever. Ritsuko" The merch girl will have a stroller next to her. From Risa: "Congratulations on Atsuko's comeback! I'm honored to be able to play with the person who is my respectable drummer. I'm very happy about that as a fan of Shonen Knife and a member of it. Naru is my senior of beer and "Shonen Knife". I want to get along with her in the future. I'm looking forward to play with her at the event on December 27th. The recording for the new album is going well. I will do my best for the recording as a drummer of Shonen Knife. Risa" So now Naru, Risa, and Rits can search the hotels at night looking for the beers! It's all good, gotta love the girls

If they include another drummer in the SK-family they could start Shonen Knife II so we gold have Teo versions IF SK.

Well, Naoko has not lost her capacity for surprise. But I think it's another example of what a lucky and crafty planner she can be. Wait around for Ritsuko to finish being a stay-at-home gamer/mommy? Can't hold your breath that long. But she's always in the address file and supportive. Naru also has a life apart from SK, which we don't talk about. She might not want to be touring the world 5 months out of every year, although I personally want a chance to see her play. Sounds like she will be playing on call in the home islands. Atsuko kind of liked being onstage again in Japan, but that's a hard commute. No problem, General Yamano has a sister ready to deploy for short stints in Europe and NA. Best of all, Atsuko-sister-san is a big concert draw with fans, all by herself. Double win! It's edging close to the drummer-of-the-month situation that Naoko swore she wouldn't tolerate. But as we all know, the bass player can be replaced with a library of sound files and a MIDI controller, so no real hassle there. The only position Naoko hasn't got a backup strategy for is lead singer/guitarist/songwriter. Maybe the robotics engineers have a suggestion.

I'm back again! I missed this community and decided I better check in once in awhile. I just haven't been spending as much time online as I used to. Anyway... I'm THRILLED Atsuko is back!! I now have a chance to see 2/3 of the original band on their next west coast US tour! I'll miss seeing Ritsuko, as she put on one hell of a performance, but I'm grateful I was able to see her (and Emi!) at least once.

Try not to leave it too long next time, but real life does has its own distractions. Like you, I'm also thrilled that Atsuko is back, but I'll really miss seeing Ritsuko. I'd have liked to see Naru on bass, but seeing Atsuko back on bass will be really great. I'm so looking forward to that. But I'm left wondering who will be doing the merch table on this years UK tour. I'm guessing it will be Janice from Damnably records, she has done the merch in the past.

Welcome back Jaicee, we missed you too! Thanks, I'm happy to be back. I have so many issues of BPC to catch up on, I might just start reading from the beginning again!

Sister-bassist Atsuko back home in LA, sipping on Jack.
Drowning the good stuff in soda water... how deluxe. That and 8 hours of singles tennis per week ought to keep her well oiled for October.

I haven't checked, but there might be an artist endorsement on her Twitter. It sure looks like an advertisement!
