This is pretty Attchan-related: 7 live dates are announced for Japan starting in March. Yokohama pop-rockers noodles are opening. Forum thread over here: shonenknife.proboards.com/post/9774/thread (did not see this in time). Atsuko's playing throughout. SK is billing as a 4-piece band!! 4 of these things are not like the other three. Four-Leaf Clover Tour announcement (scroll down to the English) If this works out, they can bring back Etsuko and call it an orchestra!

Atsuko's been raising her public profile a little around the US year-end holiday season. Check out her recent Twitter feed: twitter.com/SK_Atsuko/Waiting for a tweet of her with her arms around a bass guitar!

So far as I know, she plays base in her husband's band... unless it, or her marriage are breaking up.

You can't take the stage anywhere without being photographed, blogged, tagged and released. Wait, maybe that's for sea turtles [confused]. No, it's for rockstars who leave their basements!

Well, I don't really think Atsuko is a very big name in the LA music scene... When she told me she was playing bass in a band, I was kind of surprised that she didn't go back to the fashion business!

Atsuko posted this pic with the caption, "Asakusa!" What's Asakusa! I wondered, so I looked it up. This picture shows the Thunder Gate at Asakusa, Tokyo - or at least part of it. The statue that can be seen behind the grill to the left of the picture is Raijin, the Thunder God who is shown beating drums to create thunder. Rather apt for Atsuko even thought she's playing guitar for the 4-Leaf Clover Tour. According to wiki,

Nagoya's a wrap, and Atsuko says, "I had fun!" So, logically, a world tour can only be at least 25X as much fun. That's just basic math.

So far as I know, she plays base in her husband's band... unless it, or her marriage are breaking up. I did a big band gig last night in Palos Verdes (the old rich people go out on Sunday nights, not Fridays or Saturdays apparently) and was talking with my new Japanese drummer friend Satoshi, who is a wonderful drummer but much more a gentleman, and of course during teardown the talk turned to Shonen Knife. His face lit up like a Roman candle because I am taking an interest in his countries music and especially the Knife. Lo and behold, the lurking soundman was standing right with us, and he got just as excited about the Knife conversation. It turns out he is Robert Hecker, lead guitarist from Redd Kross! I said they made a song about you guys a long time ago. He grinned back at me and said “Their song about us was much nicer than our song about them…” Hmm. Yeah. Then he says one of his friends married the original bass player. I asked “Michie? No, it can’t be Michie” (me acting dumbfounded). He said he can’t remember her name. Then I got to thinking about the gal Kyoko(?) who did the tour back in ’89 or so when Michie was sick and couldn’t make the tour, but I think that was a New Zealand/Australia tour and the girls hadn’t made it big in the States yet. Remember the black and white geisha picture that looks like it was taken in the late 1800’s? There is a third member in it and she was a sit-in for about a month or so. Anyway… I’m wondering if he meant Atsuko, the “original” drummer??? She plays drums AND bass…confusion on Roberts part? Does anyone know who Atsuko married? It would make sense that her husband would be a musician of some sort, plus being from the LA scene during the late 80’s/early 90’s. I did not ask Robert what his friends name is; Robert is on FB, maybe I should friend him and ask him. Any ideas on who Atsuko married, what band he was from, and what band Atsuko and husband (if they are working together) are currently working with now?

Yeh, the link's fine. Atsuko is mentioned on page 98. Good. I was having issues. Maybe the "=false" was freaking me out. It turns out my brother in law went to high school with Robert Hecker. I asked him about Robert, he seems like he didn't know Robert's connection with Redd Kross, or if he did he just blew it off. I "Friend Requested" Robert this morning, we'll see if he accepts. He seemed pretty happy and smiley Sunday night so I don't see why he wouldn't. I'm dying to know who the friend is that Atsuko married and what her connections are here in LA. And I'm glad to see that Angela Smith included our girl Atsuko in her book. There are some interesting other entries in here; looking at the names and bands makes me realize how much time has gone by since they were first on the scene.

Atsuko's back!!!Yay!!!
I guess the most exciting bit is in this statement from Naoko And the statement from Atsuko Its kinda cool that Shonen Knife have now got three bass players. It'd be so awesome if all three were on stage at the same time and all playing bass together. Wow, wonder how that'd sound. Really fat. Woo-hoo, and Atsuko will be playing on the UK tour next year. I'm so excited. Though I will admit that I would have liked to get the chance to hear Naru play. Perhaps at that great super-gig that is to come...

A whole lotta good news for us Shonen Knife freaks. Poor Naru won't be on any of the new album recordings. I'm glad Atsuko is coming back into the studio to record.
More comments from the peanut gallery later...
Thanks for the posting gl0r.
