Day of the factory for realThings they don't bother telling you This is just lying there, so to speak, at the top of the Shonen Knife article on JP Wikipedia, and I don't recall ever hearing this before: 〜〜〜〜〜 Formed in 1981 in Osaka by the trio of Naoko Yamano and Michie Nakatani, classmates in their student days, and Yamano's younger sister Atsuko.
At that time, Naoko Yamano and Michie Nakatani were company employees working at Tiger Vacuum Flask, Inc. [ now Tiger Industrial Corp., Ltd. ]. 〜〜〜〜〜 Valuable insider experience with kitchen products. No citation, but it's Wikipedia, so it can't be wrong. There are still plenty of early work weeks available for low-status jobs in candy shops and medical offices.

I was disappointed to learn that I just missed the 110th anniversary celebration of the Kamenoko Tawashi Company on Scrubbing Day 2017 (July 2). The tawashi being acclaimed one of the three greatest Japanese inventions, this year marks the 110th Anniversary of the pioneering "Kamenoko Tawashi". "In other words," the company says, it's exactly 110 years since "Kamenoko Tawashi was awarded a patent, as certified by The Japan Commemoration Day Society, [ so ] it's the anniversary of [ Kamenoko's U-shaped wire and coco-fiber ] tawashi. I could have cropped this but I didn't want to re-hit it with the JPEG hammer. Not a coincidence: the company opened its first store the same year (1907). There were specially colored dried, pressed scrubbing sponges for sale on the anniversary weekend. Sorry, the orange color was limited to the Tokyo shop alone. Kamenoko promises not to improve, modernize or mess with the tortoise. 〜〜〜〜〜 No hint of what the other two Top Three inventions could be, or their relative standing. Time for a user poll? No. 1 JP invention: | SHONEN KNIFE | No. 2 JP invention: | THE SHONEN KNIFE | No. 3 JP invention: | IDOL SYSTEM |
Honorable mention: • Bullet and HSST rail travel • Capsule hotels • Chambered Les Paul guitars with f-holes • Coco-fiber pot scrubbers like bristly turtles • Coffee in a can, ready to drink • Conveyor-boat sushi bars • Drifting competitions • Dry typewriter correction tape (sorry Haruna) • Electric rice cookers and bread makers • High-efficiency blue LEDs • Instant ramen* • Karaoke machines**• Karate, jujutsu, ninjas • Kei cars • Maid cafes • The Man With No Name • Mascots for everything • Relentless improvement • Robot pets • Shooter arcade games • SLR cameras • The Sony Walkman and Discman • Televisions with CRT screens and cassette videotape • Toilets with water recycling, courtesy lights, driers and sound systems • The Toyota Production System (TPS) * Rated No. 1 for the 20th Century, in a 2000 survey by the Fuji Research Institute (whatever that was) ** No. 2 according to the Fuji Research subjects

Don't get all excited
If you're a little confused like me, this is not a compilation. Not as a sound source, anyway.
It's a printed paper catalog, basically an annotated list, which you can pick up at Disk Union retail locations in Japan.
Shonen Knife is in there because of their track on the Yellow Loveless comp, just one of the SK-related recordings DU usually sells.

noodles Metaltic Nocturne tour wrapOf course, noodles has been promoting this album since the third week of June. Ticket info from the promoter for Nagoya HUCK FINN on the 30th of July. http://instagr.am/p/BWsH5Ten-gH Today's noodles' live, a lot of new songs in the setlist 🎵 The rest of it is my favorite songs that I most, most wanted to see… especially "Bond", I love that song 🎵 (๑^ ^๑) Till this month Yoko has been busy with her other rock project on Delicious, Casablanca. They are the first to point out that they are pretty awesome. http://instagr.am/p/BXjippbjllw See? Busy. DELICIOUS LABEL channel at YouTube www.youtube.com/channel/UCUhjvC8z0PkCzTirjJyNFoA/videos〜〜〜 www.instagram.com/p/BYr7BFiliQ1In case you were unclear about it. This looks like Okayama, actually. The Shonen Knife Okayama performance at Pepperland with noodles reached a peak of excitement and ended successfully! Thanks to everyone who came!! Tomorrow is Fukuoka Queblick! www.shonenknife.net/live.htmlThe end of the Okayama Pepperland live. Thank you very much to everyone who came.
Shonen Knife were the support act, as this is noodles' tour. Shonen shonen shonen shonen shonen shonen shonenPre-made tape tags to identify or position gear during set changes, I suppose. Rock 'n' roll t-shirt ANTHRAX JUDGE DEATH. Kind of fresh, maybe a score from the last shopping trip in LA. Copy/pasted tweet to say Fukuoka's done too. Last word belongs to the top-billed act: The Fukuoka Queblick live is also successfully completed. Thank you very much to everyone who came. In addition, we had a very fun time co-starring for 2 days in Okayama • Fukuoka with Shonen Knife. Thank you very much!I would have thought these shows would make bigger waves, but fan clips and photos are not really jumping out anywhere so far. Good luck ever getting found with #noodles for a tag, though. Except for Naru being so trim in her '50s rollup bluejeans, Shonen Knife is taking fashion cues from middle/late-period PUFFY.

Does this ever happen to you? I'm dropping my butt into the driver's seat this afternoon, after a trudge around the parking lot about a mountain of cat food and a bottle of dental plaque rinse. And I'm closing the door humming, Na-na-na, na-na-na-na Na-na-na-na-na, na-na-na na-naWait, that song is what?! Love me two timesAlso, two ways Risa explains vegetarianism. I know, that wasn't the goal. Some connections make themselves, I have no way to stop them. Risa wrote in her tour blog that the Lone Pine Sanctuary kangaroos were all napped out, but that she was excited to feed them anyway. Actually what she said was, "I gave snacks to a kangaroo! My first time, my heart was pounding!" and why not, when they look so much like Moomin… The bestowerBut that was long ago and far away. Hobart, Tasmania, it was a really good show. I ate wallaby meat for the first in my life, it tasted like venison. Those who know say Homo sapiens is like pork. I feed you, you feed me. We're a team! Wait — the fuzzy item in the petting zoo is a grey kangaroo, and the yummy item on the fork is a wallaby. Different things. Blog update, Australia & New Zealand Tour September 21!This one seems ready for the grill. Cute and tasty, cute and tasty. Oh, I can't choose just one!

As I recall it, kangaroos and wallabies are closely related...

For the last few days I've been lucky enough to have been suffering the pain and anguish of mega toothache. Even my painkillers have been having a hard time coping with it. Boo-hoo, poor me. I'm just trying to work up the courage to go to the dentist for a pulling experience. So to briefly take my mind off things, I scanned this for you. Back and front of the mini CDlyrics and cdCuriously enough, doing that did take my mind off my toothache for a while.

The ROVI bio is updated to the 2017 AU/NZ tourThe Microsoft Store is keeping up a Shonen Knife page with no apparent links to any merchandise. There are a few older photos, tiny, and a band bio from ROVI that's updated to the last AU/NZ tour. www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/music/artist/shonen-knife/43750000-0200-11db-89ca-0019b92a3933/bio?display=gridAbout 750 words. Accurate on facts, skewed on the importance of the facts. The author, Greg Prato, interprets the lineup changes across 35 years almost as a sign of struggling to keep a lineup, which would be a gross exaggeration. He also makes a lot out of Mana Nishiura's demise, which isn't band business considering she had pulled back 100% to devote herself to DMBQ at the time. I'm just pleased to see that the digi-media commerce world is tracking SK. 〜〜〜 ROVI Corp. is like the all-purpose TV Guide for the entire universe of digital media, in theory. In reality, they've had some challenges making a business out of that. But I suppose licensing their copyrighted information to outfits like MTV, Facebook, and the streaming services must be paying off pretty OK now.

Almost, but no.Two-thirds of Nirvana recorded not playing "Twist Barbie" So, this happened: And this was what it was about (the whole story has a wealth of detail and is well worth the read): 1991 DEC 01 – Dave Grohl and Kurt Cobain Southern Bar, Edinburgh (Mary Boon photo)When Nirvana played Edinburgh’s Southern Bar 2014 April 02 by MARK HIRST for the Edinburgh Evening News www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/entertainment/when-nirvana-played-edinburgh-s-southern-bar-1-3361350 [ Nirvana's ] first full Scottish performance was to a sold-out Friday night crowd at the city’s Calton Studios. Edinburgh-based band The Joyriders had invited Nirvana to support them at a charity fundraiser for the city’s Sick Kids hospital the following Sunday…
…Dave and Kurt set up on the tiny stage. The duo were introduced as Teen Spirit with Dave playing Krist’s acoustic bass guitar. They opened with Polly and also did a cover of Shonen Knife’s Twisted Barbie [ sic ] to the obvious delight of the Japanese trio who were standing with Krist at the bar…Some of those present said the charity show at the bar amounted to around 20 tenacious hopefuls by the time Nirvana showed up, still unconfirmed and rather late. 10 minutes from their short set are up on YouTube as advertised, and those do *not* include the all-acoustic rendition of "Twist Barbie" you're so curious about. Nirvana Live Accoustic Show - 12/01/1991. Edinburgh, United Kingdom2017 DEC 02 by MoreNirvana (10:25) This show has never before been heard until it was uploaded by "kwkfld" so god bless his soul. So please enjoy this incredibly rare and amazing show!0:00 Intro 1:50 Dumb 5:20 Polly 8:27 Jesus Don't Want Me for a Sunbeam The RIAA did *not* enjoy hearing this show, and filed a copyright claim against the original upload. Believe that they want this one gone as well. The legal basis for that is obscure to me, since it was a charity event with the public invited. The original taper adds this note: kwkfld1 week ago (edited) Just to clarify a couple of things about this recording as there's some incorrect information been written about the recording on various websites & message boards.
Some people seem to be under the impression that there is a longer version of this recording containing more songs.
Only 2 1/2 songs were recorded (I never knew Kurt & Dave were going to be performing and only had 12 minutes of tape), a slightly longer version with guitars being tuned / chords being practised does exist though it contains no additional music.
Similarly, some people also seem to be under the impression that a better quality version of this recording exists. Prior to being uploaded to youtube, I never gave a copy of the recording to anybody, which means all copies of this recording which are currently circulating were sourced from the original youtube upload.
The recording could and should be better quality than it currently is as there were major problems digitising the recording. If a better quality version does become available in future it will be made available freely.
So please don't waste your time or money trying to obtain a longer / better quality version of this recording from the people who are currently claiming to have one. That's about it.
