Fresh crop of show video on YouTube for your convenience...
October 09 – Seattle, The Tractor Tavern
Shonen Knife - Jump Into the New World (Live 10/9/2016) 2016 OCT 14 by nightdriver (03:04) Shonen Knife plays Jump Into the New World live at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle live on October 9th, 2016.
Zoom lens, but when he pans it feels like he's already front and center up against the stage. Turn up the sound.
Shonen Knife - Loop Di Loop (Live 10/9/2016) 2016 OCT 14 nightdriver (03:20) Shonen Knife plays Loop Di Loop Into the New World live at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle live on October 9th, 2016.
And Our Fresh Drummer Risa sings, with a closeup.
Shonen Knife - Antonio Baka Guy (Live 10/9/2016) 2016 OCT 14 by nightdriver (03:43) Shonen Knife plays Antonio Baka Guy live at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle live on October 9th, 2016.
Set encore. Somewhat amazing shooting. I think I got Atsuko's hair in my eye.
October 19 – Minneapolis, The Turf Club
Wasabi by Shonen Knife October 19, 2016 in St. Paul, MN 2016 OCT 19 by Wild Wilson (03:07)
Pretty excellent take from the steps at stage left.
October 22 – Indianapolis, Radio Radio
Shonen Knife live Radio Radio 10.22.16 2016 OCT 23 by Mike Sheets (03:25)
Jogging guitar players. The camera struggled, but the vocals are nice. It sounds as if Risa's drumming on a cardboard carton.
October 28 – Baltimore, Ottobar
Shonen Knife - Jump Into The New World (live 10-27-16) 2016 NOV 04 by Matt Trujillo (03:33) This was the second song in their set, if I recall right. They opened with "Pop Tune". They were so awesome.
There's a little too much of people's necks, backs and hands.
Shonen Knife - Loop Di Loop (live 10-28-16) 2016 NOV 01 by Matt Trujillo (02:42)
From their amazing set @ The Ottobar in Baltimore, MD. They were on my bucket list to see. They rocked their entire set. Risa especially impressed me. She was so happy. I got some stuff signed after the gig, and they gave me big smiles. One of the best concerts I've been to.
Shonen Knife- Buttercup (live 10-28-16) 2016 NOV 09 by Matt Trujillo (02:28) This was the encore that they did. I was so happy they did this one. They were so energetic the entire set.
Posted a week after the other clips.
November 01 – Albany, The Low Beat
Shonen Knife - "Banana Chips" @ The Low Beat in Albany, NY ( 11 / 1 / 16 ) 2016 NOV 01 by Arch Fiends (06:12) Shonen knife @ low beat
The usual challenges of shooting with a phone. Almost bizarrely close in, like a show in a living room. The club echoes like a bowling alley.
Advisory: occasional short bursts of LOUD noise that seem to be caused by Risa's heaviest hits on the snare.
00:00 Banana Chips 02:18 Antonio Baka Guy
Still the only clip I see from this date.
"… so, if you buy our albums or T-shirts, we'll do autograph on them, at the merch table. See you over there, and we hope to see you again soon. Thank you very much."
Times change, hippies. That's my Gene Simmons voice.

Risa seems to hit EVERYTHING hard, she's been breaking her cymbals regularly! (Hard to believe, from someone who looks so fragile!)

https://instagram.com/p/BMcvwrKhF6i From 5 November, on the way to the Haunt, another side trip to Guitar Center to replace a cymbal. Can't blame this on Risa's arm — it's what happens when you drop one edge-first onto concrete. But it's no real loss, if you can turn bronze into gold like this. Naoko said they put the cymbal case up on a pool table to repair it anyway. There might not always be a drum shop on the route!

What I learned touring with Atsuko-sempai
Hasta la vista, America
Itemized travel expense report
At the end of the tour, it's a very lonely thing to say farewell to all the people I was together with every day 😢🌌 America was very fun! In 31 shows, I split two drumsticks and three cymbals. 🤘
Maybe she did get excited and destroy the cymbals all by herself!

There's more — this just got posted. The first song of the Adventure set. Shonen Knife - Jump Into New World (Live in Newport, RI)2016 NOV 23 by Marko Polo (03:11) Recorded at The Cafe at Parlor Bar, Newport, Rhode Island on election night, November 8th, 2016 using Fuji X100T camera and Rode VideoMicro microphone. Haha, no, but it's intended to look that way — quiet, homey, intimate. Let's rock!! The stage is a barely decent-sized alcove in the rear, with wooden bookshelvesMuch of Newport, RI is an outdoor museum for the historic mansions built by the super-wealthy in the Gilded Age. As you'd expect, tennis is a sacred activity. That might be why Shonen Knife came there in the first place. It was scheduled as a half-day vacation for the band. New awning and sign since this pic. The blind turret has been there for a few years. The Parlor hosts DJ nights and live bands after dinnertime in its modest cafe extension. Supersuckers and the Ataris will both play there within the next couple of weeks. Though they are on a little island surrounded by small streets, there are (hopefully) times when the neighbors hate the noise from this place. Girl by the water. Water is everywhere. From Naoko Nov. 8th The Cafe at Parlor, Newport2016/11/09 (Weds) shonenknife.net/blog/archives/22262 The first purpose of sightseeing was going to International Tennis Hall of Fame. Tennis tournament is held here once a year and there is a tennis museum.
It was the evening of the national elections in the US. How's the world going, says Naoko. Two girls by the water, etc.
From Atsuko Nov 8th Newport, RI @the Cafe At Parlor Newport2016/11/11 (Fri) shonenknife.net/blog/archives/22314 We are already in Newport last night. We have free time until 4:30pm! Naoko and I went to The International Tennis Hall of Fame! Not what I meant by "chocolate chips".From Atsuko Nov 7th Travel Day2016/11/11 (Fri) shonenknife.net/blog/archives/22302 I didn’t buy this potato chips. Atsuko finally found a potato chip variety with no appeal. Not even as an experiment, not even to complete her set.

2016 November 09 – Cambridge MAUpstairs at the Middle East Cafe Next-to-last show of tour SHONEN KNIFE @ The Middle East Upstairs - Cambridge, MA - 11/9/2016
2016 NOV 12 by Front Row Poster (22:00) with BIRTHING HIPS and SHEPHERDESSDecent audio and video from a handheld phone at extreme stage right. Front Row Poster seems to have a policy of calling it quits after 20 minutes, no matter what. Maybe it's the muffled sound, the energy feels oddly out of focus to me. Risa is back there somewhere. Atsuko recovers her head about a minute and a half in. "Green Tangerine" sounds sweet. 00:00 Pop Tune 03:22 Twist Barbie 05:42 Bear Up Bison 07:30 "We are very happy to come back to Cambridge Rock City" 08:32 Jump Into The New World 11:40 Rock'n'roll T-Shirt 15:38 Member intros: "I'm Risa, nice to meet you…" 17:59 Green Tangerine For the curious: BIRTHING HIPS (18:20) youtu.be/czNsjgYuQOA"A brand new song about how men shouldn't touch me…" You're gonna need a better song. I lasted about a minute and a half with this lot. SHEPHERDESS (19:23) youtu.be/_v3XlzZcOz0Screechy punk of a much higher standard (complete set). Why does everyone seem tired and cranky this night? Presidential election hangover. Shonen Knife "Twist Barbie"2016 NOV 10 by john doherty (02:20) Shonen Knife / Shepherdess / Birthing Hips @ Middle East Upstairs 472 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MADarkish and from the opposite side with some audio clipping. Shonen Knife @ The Middle East2016 NOV 10 by john doherty (03:09) Shonen Knife / Shepherdess / Birthing Hips @ Middle East Upstairs 472 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA "Rock'n'roll T-Shirt" once again.

Murder For Girls got some show video together from Cattivo in Pittsburgh, PA. Nothing from the headliners that I see, though.
Murder For Girls- Mathilda 2016 NOV 04 by Murder For Girls (02:31) Live at Cattivo 11-3-16 opening for Shonen Knife!
Murder For Girls- Pacer 2016 NOV 04 by Murder For Girls (02:18) Live at Cattivo 11-3-16 opening for Shonen Knife!
They remind me of bands from Athens, GA in the latter half of the '70s.

Finally, a slow day yesterday on NPR so this segment from the end of October could air. ★★★★ Unusually good, open, and relaxed interview with interesting details recalled by Naoko… who does all the talking. Naoko actually says, "…I think,in Japan, still the situation of women is not too good… but regarding doing the band, is OK…" The interviewer seems to know little but what's in the press kit. She's very sympathetic, nice and encouraging, takes the conversation way back in time. When reading from her notes, says Now-OH-ko and At-SOO-ko. Perseverates a little on the feminism angle, with zero allowance for cultural history. Believes in SK "rocking as hard as any guy band" with no conception of what that would have to mean if it were actually true. SK played live in the studio, but you can assume the songs have been pre-recorded and edited into the conversation. Shonen Knife On World Cafe (Embedded audio, scrubbing in the right sidebar, 26:52) 2016 December 9 by Talia Schlanger of WXPN 88.5FM Philadelphia npr.org/sections/world-cafe/2016/12/09/504824419/shonen-knife-on-world-cafe On the heels of Shonen Knife's 35th anniversary, the band visited World Cafe to share stories and play tracks off its latest studio album, 2016's Adventure. Hear the complete session in the player, and check out the [in-studio] performance video of "Rock 'N' Roll T-Shirt" via VuHaus.Naoko says she first wanted to play bass because she felt shy, but since Michie had no experience with stringed instruments Naoko let her have the instrument she thought would be easier to learn (6 > 4). Songs: Jump Into The New World • Rock'n'roll T-Shirt • Wasabi • Riding on the Rocket. If you're playing interview bingo at home, includes all the following: Beatles Buzzcocks Kurt Cobain Nirvana Ramones | 35 years 35th anniversary Cult heroes Feminist icons Pop-punk icons | Cute animals Delicious foods PB&J sandwich Playful SK makes you happy | Naoko does not count the time Naoko had to sneak out to rehearse Naoko is not a "feminist" Naoko is too shy for love songs Naoko just felt like having a band |
Related: Weekend LISTening: 5 Japanese Bands You Need To Hear2016 December 9, by Talia Schlanger npr.org/sections/world-cafe/2016/12/09/504827772/weekend-listening-5-japanese-bands-you-need-to-hear …when Yamano visited World Cafe with her bandmates to play tracks off Shonen Knife's latest record, Adventure, I couldn't resist asking her to recommend a few rising stars in the Land of the Rising Sun. Below, hear Yamano's five picks. Extruders: 8 Queens Yellow Machinegun: Shut Your Mouth Convex Level: Bell Is A Shelter Until It Is Rung
Noodles: Beautiful Dreamer Aaps: Summer Trip (Sangria Disco Remix) "Land of the Rising Sun..." correct, honorable writer-san but just a bit insensitive coming right after Pearl Harbor Day. Not so coincidentally, all the picks are bands that SK has played with in the last 12 months and Naoko has praised on her blog.

As much as I love Rits-san, I am really impressed by Atsuko's bass playing, she has improved by leaps and bounds since her last previous SK album and I really wish I'd been able to see them on this tour
