Disco Party Part.2 / by NO MORE SOCIAL CLUB / 대한포도주장미연합회 MOTHERVIBES, SUNWOO JUNGA, THE BARBERETTES, ECHAE KANG 160430 It's Raining @ Samcheongro 1462016 MAY 10 by Olympic Park (05:11) Pretty convincing scat singing by Sunwoo Junga, but I don't know whose tune this originally is. Familiar-ish, but just not my genre… 160430 Just The Two Of Us @ Samcheongro 1462016 MAY 10 by Olympic Park (05:22) Covering Grover Washington, Jr. from 1980. Now with even more Barberettes, and one loud cornet player, no credit, and none for keyboards, drums or bass. The sashaying vibraphonist in the round goggles is Heekyoung Lee of Mothervibes. Sunwoo Kim Junga is the vocalist with two-tone hair. Sunny seems to be at home and on top of it in any situation, nice. Barberettes make a good r'n'b/soul chorus. They have that Philadelphia funk phrasing at their fingertips. It looks to me like No More Social Club is a more or less monthly get-together of the musicians you see here at the 146 club, under the auspices of something called Daehan Podoju Jangmi Yeonhabhoe, the Wine & Roses Association. Named after the song, "Days of Wine and Roses"? The association's name turns up some stuff at Instagram: instagram.com/explore/tags/대한포도주장미연합회/Other productive hashtags: #선우정아 #노모어소셜클럽 #삼청로146 #nomoresocialclub #LiveAt146 삼청로146 Venue Facebook with concert photos: facebook.com/삼청로146-149206175439907/

Gesu no Kiwami Otomeゲスの極み乙女。(Gesu no Kiwami Otome.) is sort of prog-pop, assembled out of other successful bands and currently signed to the Unborde label of Warner JP. The period at the end is technically part of their name, which gets translated "Girl at the Height of Rudeness." I don't know about gesu, but gesui is sleazy or scuzzy, low-life. You're not the only ones with a 3-eyed cat, okay?GKO are: Enon Kawatani (gt, vo, songwriter) Kyuujitsu Kachou (ba, cho) Chan MARI (kb, cho) Hona Ikoka (dr, cho) Mathy, progressive, speedy — they say hip-hop, which is a joke unless you count toneless rapping over a samba. Like if tricot swapped a keyboard for rhythm guitar, and decided they weren't DIY anymore, because being highly mannered like Pizzicato Five was right for them. Self-aware but not too serious. Their cinematic story videos play around with every cultural stereotype there is. Hona Ikoka of Gesu No Kiwami Otome Drumming... From shimichu.tumblr.com/post/143060013495/short-haired-girl-drummer-japaneseI can live without being impressed by yet another band, but they are too good for me to ignore. I also can't blame them for trading on the femme fatale persona of the drummer. Although I'd like to. ゲスの極み乙女。"Take Off The Dress" (Official Music Video)2013 MAY 21 by SPACE SHOWER MUSIC ゲスの極み乙女。1st EP Take Off The Dress. Title track from their first EP when they were with Space Shower. Bored hostess club denizen Ikoka spends the whole time dallying on a velvet couch. Then she says, "What should I do, I wonder? Real Japanese Oi! by skinhead dudes. Not powderpuff Oi! by ladies with dye jobs.
From the 4-song compilation EP, Japanese Movement Volume One (1988). Like it says in the videos. Remember when aggro was for making good times better, and weekends were for getting even.
Love the finger splint on the go-go Popeye lemme at 'em guy.
A-1. Humpty Dumpty, "Hill House" A-2. Bad Vultures, "Oi! Oi! Power"
B-1. Bull the Dougs, "Next Time Smash" B-2. JM Cracker Jacks, "They Love Money"
Humpty Dumpty - Hill House 2011 DEC 31 by NSmusic1488 (05:22) Oi! with somewhat of a metal content.
Bad Vultures - Oi! Oi! Power 2011 DEC 31 by NSmusic1488 (02:31) Basically about being full of fight.
Bull The Dougs - Next Time Smash 2011 DEC 31 by NSmusic1488 (03:38) "Next time, smash the US Army; smash the USSR!" Sounding unintentionally like South Park. In all seriousness, you and what army?
JM Cracker Jacks - They Love Money NSmusic1488 (03:20) Good-timing Cracker Jacks preach to or about the affluent.

Other face of JP Oi!Doccoi / Doc-Oi were not sure how best to handle their name, but they were clear about what they were doing. It wasn't street-fighting songs, although it was socio-political. Doccoi were not skins. Dokkoi is nonsense syllables for setting a team rhythm, like alley-oop or heave-ho. Doc Oi - The Riot Of Anti Government2012 FEB 26 by JapaneseOiandPunk (03:47) Plenty more on the same channel. youtube.com/user/JapaneseOiandPunk/videosThe Hawks - Harusora - live in Osaka2006 AUG 25 by shorbion (02:23) Japanese Oi band The Hawks playing Harusora live in Osaka. Great song by one of the best Japanese Oi bands out there.Standard-bearers for SSS culture (Samurai Skinhead Spirit). Militant about coming together to achieve shared goals. If you said, they're not really Oi! music at all, I'd say they just have more of their sound in common with middle of the road, working class rock music than most. They tag their labeled goods "street fight wear", but what they really remind me of is grass roots organizers in gang neighborhoods who use alternative gang identity to get kids out of violent gangs. From the ruins of Psychotoblack there crawled Sither in 2006. Since that time, they've put out 6 or 7 songs that I can find. The range is up-tempo sludge with a key signature, to blackest doom, to sheer noise. They're friends of Gonguri. For their engagement at East Koenji 20,000 Volts on May 28, they had a guest girl vocalist — founding member Chie-sama returned for the band's 10th anniversary. After two minutes of pedal noise, they start strumming. One does not simply rock into Mordor. I think this is what Led Zeppelin was searching for. Some of you may be familiar with my liking of the song Bad Apple ...especially if dancing girls are involved... ...there's a much nicer version of this video on Niconico www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm16379376Apparently the fad for dancing vids of this song started when two guys posted a vid of themselves on Niconico dancing to to the song. Bad Apple started life on a arcade game, then " On May 20th, 2007, Masayoshi Minoshima, the founder of well-known, Touhou-affiliated doujin club Alstroemeria Records released a remix of “Bad Apple!!” featuring the voice of Japanese pop singer Nomico in an album called Lovelight." The reason I started this post is because of this fun vid of Bad Apple featuring Nomico on vocals... If you've missed it, and for the sake of completion, here it is sung in English.

I got a little excited but I don't find anything else from them so far. The how-to DVD is bassist Tabasa's, the other guys are helping her out with a motivational intro. It needs all the juice it can get, it is dry, dry, dry. B'3 is an on-again off-again project of the founder TMAEJI, DJ, guitar and vocals. The other two are hired guns. No activity I can see since last December. Ba: Tabasa Hayashi is based in Tokyo. She's been seen with her old band SCARLET, as well as HINTO, THE GIRL, Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her, 8otto, LoVendoЯ and more you recognize. She's versatile and sings. Her cute Ameba blog is entitled, Only Learned Bad Things. ameblo.jp/tabasahayashi/Dr: Kosuke Miyauchi of Coyote milk store and TERROR FAMILIA has also been in Psysalia Psysalis Psyche (defunct). @kosuke_drums on Twitter.

Well, whatever. I appreciate their honesty in not even bothering to mime if it gets at all in the way of the antics... "Bad Apple" is theme music from Lotus Land Story, a PC-98 game for home consoles. Touhou titles have never been developed for any arcade hardware that I ever heard of.

Well, that is what I call rock music. I should probably send Quentin Tarantino some women's shoes. How can Tabasa be such a Total Rock Chick on stage, and such a schoolmarm in her DVD? Is mystery.

Wasureran Nee Yo (忘れらんねえよ)Power pop lives! Wasureran Nee Yo front to back: Takahiro Shibata (vo, gt), Takuya Umezu (ba)A band that can be a bit hard for me to understand, because the things they say are a little weird, starting with their own name. Looks like 19 or so friends and associates submitted their own music videos for this song, and the results are what you see. BiS and Chatmonchy are among the stars in this production. More flying bassists from Osaka. Those are some sharp suits, and that's a big sound. If Scandal were an actual rock band, they'd resemble these guys. Their niche seems like girls rock — boys r stupid, done the hard way. Kakumei = Revolution. The real third single is this, for convenience.
