Today is Friday and All's Well10-year-old Japanese girl plays the Ramones California Sun - Guitar cover2014 DEC 20 by Ramone Lala (02:00) She started playing the guitar 11 months ago. She's a huge fan of Ramones. Why we have an obligation to protect the future of life on planet Earth. I can't stop watching this, she down-picks just like Johnny. And that hip-sway when she senses that the take is going to be good. And the howzat? face. You saw her here first. 〜〜〜 Lest we forget, this is Henry Glover's tune, written for the Roulette label and first recorded by Joe Jones in 1961. Jones was a black dude from New Orleans getting in on surf music (!). That meant he was basically doomed to be an ammunition loader for the likes of Annette Funicello, the Crickets, and especially the Rivieras (Billboard #5 charting US single, 1964). Plus one strange-ass band of surf aficianados from Queens, in 1976. 〜〜〜 The Ramones used to do this live, but as far as I can find it was only released as filler on a 1976 Dutch maxi-single of "Blitzkrieg Bop" until consolidated onto 1977's Leave Home. This is good enough to break out on its own. The Ramones live in San Francisco, 1978December 28 at Bill Graham's Winterland Joey Ramone - lead vocals Johnny Ramone - guitar Dee Dee Ramone - bass, vocals Marky Ramone - drums Paste Monthly 2009/10 - The Ramones live at Winterland, 1978 December 28You can listen at Paste, or possess as a digital download from the publisher. "California Sun" is track no. 16. TITLE: Ramones NYC 1978ARTIST: The Ramones ITEM NUMBER: 20040367-7732-AD RELEASE DATE: 2004 March RECORDED DATE: 1978 December 28 VENUE: Winterland Ballroom (San Francisco, CA) PRODUCT PAGE: wolfgangsvault.com/the-ramones/downloads/download/20040367-7732.htmlLiner notes excerpted: This powerful and rare recording of the Ramones was culled from the private archives of the late Bill Graham. For this show, all the classics are here, and the band was pumped up, to say the least. The Ramones had just come off of their successful late 1977 release, Road To Ruin and were about to see the premiere of Rock N Roll High School , a Roger Corman-produced feature film starring the band. Also during the time of this recording, the band was in the studio with legendary producer, Phil Spector, working on the album that would become End Of The Century .
This recording opens with a fade-in to "Rockaway Beach," which, though incomplete, sets the mood for the entire show. That song is followed by a non-stop barrage of sonic attacks that includes "Teenage Lobotomy," "Blitzkrieg Bop," "I Don't Want You," "Go Mental," "Rock N Roll High School," "I Wanna Be Sedated," "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker," "I Don't Wanna Walk Around With You," and several others.

Nice! The carefree moment on a pretty conflicted (good) album. Not just a couple – a pair. Posted by WillyC at If Charlie Parker Was a Gunslinger… Barbara is just what you'd want in a wife if you were Dee Dee. You can speculate that she was the main thing keeping him together, and I don't know what else would have, although drug rehab couldn't have hurt. 2002 FEB 05 – playing bass for Dee Dee at Club CoCoDrie (mickpunk.com photo)Multitasking somewhere/somewhen in Argentina ( Barbara Zampini MySpace photo) I didn't realize this before, but Barbara has a songwriting credit at Discogs on that album, for "I'm Horrible". I doubt if he was surprised. Of all the Ramones, his thug credentials were the absolute best, and he was a peacemaker in the mold of Ted Nugent...
