How I could miss it I'll never know. Which one was that?

I've just received some swag which came packed in a Jiffy bag. Something I'd been after for a while and then I found a cheap copy on Amazon... forbidden super heroWell, with a great trailer like this one, who could resist buying it? I think the best line comes just after 0.55.

I feel sure that line has been used in real life more than once. Probably without effect. This is on Blu-ray, no less! Well, I've never regretting watching Lalapipo, Big Dreams Little Tokyo or World Sinks, Except Japan, so knock yerself out! Um, you'll report, I hope.

This showed up at the post office. New in shrinkwrap, it's been waiting for me in a box over 12 years! Yay, congratulations! That copy had been hiding in a box and whispering Chi to itself in a child-like pretty voice while patiently waiting for the " person just for me" to find it. You are the one, the special person for one Fandango Night in the best Rock Club in Osaka... in Japan... in The World! People and DVDs are different, but they can find love. Did existance flash with a blinding white light when you slipped the shrinkwrap off? Could you resist jumping straight to the Knife cuts, or did you start at the beginning and wait for the special tracks for you? (Sorry, I've been wasting my life and watching Chobits. Don't worry, I made it to the end with a few shreds of sanity left and won't go there again.)

No white flash, just an hour of bands from greater Osaka having a big weekend in the megalopolis. It's an incredible feat of circular self-promotion for all involved. I now know in some detail what one of the toilets at Fandango looked like in 2003. You can wait till you get to a rail station.

SOIL & "PIMP" SESSIONS : Pimpin'"So heavy! So what? So ill jazz!!" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soil & "Pimp" Sessions I got to know these guys through Miyoko Yamaguchi. I loved this album from the first second, and the recording just sounds so good. The band score might not be quite as overpriced41 minutes of explosive, genre-busting JAZZ!! as they say at Japan Victor. You can own this for $7–20 plus shipping… or $98… or $3 like I just did. My soundtrack of today. It was in a discount bin under Rock : Misc : S 〜〜〜〜〜 SOIL & "PIMP" SESSIONS Pimpin' playlist at Spotify open.spotify.com/user/alexwilke/playlist/0ZRt8F6VD4YU3RNIpPGrw9 SOIL & "PIMP" SESSIONS store at Bandcamp soilandpimpsessions.bandcamp.com 17 other recordings, digital and physical

A moment of silence for the despoiled Knife CollectorUnless a Virgin warehouse was recently liquidated, somebody would have had to die for me to find this in a rack at Amoeba SF. If not the actual fan, then the spouse or other trustee who got rid of their precious thing. It's been in a dark place a long. long time. Amoeba's Shonen Knife bin for a much shorter time. The newsletter was quarter-folded in a yellowed PVC sleeve. Otherwise pretty pristine.Letting it relax. You don't just flatten out cheap sulphite bond without breaking paper fibers. This part scares me. It's in factory shrinkwrap with a German import origin label. WTF?Those of you who may have gotten your copy direct from Shonen Knife Planetary HQ... does this look normal? I'm trying to understand what it is that I've got here. I really want to spin the CD, but that might be like busting open the heirloom bottle of Lafite. Well, probably not quite that. Amoeba is good at pricing stuff. But still.
