The information I have says that it's not Shonen Knife performing on that track, but they were responsible for remixing it. Here it is, it's track 6. www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00005HV8D

Funny though, it sounds like them! You're right, listening to it again it's definitely more than just a remix. If you have the multi-track tapes and you're making a remix you can't change a song so drastically, so it's definitely more than just a remix. I think that quote was probably written without having heard the song, or maybe it wasn't translated properly, or maybe in Japanese the word remix is used a lot more loosely.
