▲ ▲ ▲ ▲ Angus Knight fronting his new line-up No Friendz topping the acts on Saturday night at The Five Bells, New Cross.
Tracks are: I Saw Shonen Knife, Ballad of No Friendz, I Wanna Be A Hedgehog, Bloody Love, No Friendz Anthem〜〜〜〜〜 OMG, that is laugh-out-loud excellent. "If you like music that's intensively shit… check us out!!" UK's answer to The Babys. Bands that might not *be* like Shonen Knife, but still totally do like them. 〜〜〜 Announcing the new Chupa Cabra/ No Friendz split single from Trashmouth Records2017 DEC 13 by Roxy Gillespie for the Louder Than War music blog louderthanwar.com/announcing-new-chupa-cabra-and-no-friendz-split-single-trashmouth/ Another super split single from Trashmouth featuring Chupa Cabra and No Friendz makes its way to the post- punk-hungry listening public.
There is a feeling of disquiet engendered by the music No Friendz play, a sinister edge to what might seem an almost sentimental style.
Reminiscent of the darker side of glam rock Bloody Love is a musical romp, with a bombastic beginning, fine sludgy guitar fuzz and vampiric lyrics. That's sort of like it, for the case of Angus, anyway. I'm not sure about the "darker side" thing. If this is dark, then Jonathan Richman is dark. No Friendz' first release was back in August, "Bloody Love" again but on a 7-inch split with Madonnatron, also from Trashmouth. The new record looks like giving the same song a second chance for zero cost in the studio, unless they re-recorded it. Why would a band like No Friendz re-record anything?!

Every now and then I watch some of those "unboxing videos" of people unpacking their latest haul. Sometimes its Pokemon cards, sometimes its boxes of second-hand records, sometimes it is tech nerds and their toys. Lately I've watched a couple of vids about 3D printing which may be why this suggestion came up for me - a tech nerd unboxing, assembling and testing their latest 3D printer. That thing standing in-front of the curtain, may be something to do with a Barbot that she designed and built. Oh, those nerdy tech-types and the things they get up to.
