Osaka Ramones ~ Song review~ CHINESE ROCKNicely played song about the life of a hardcore drug addict; I truly hope Naoko has no idea what she was singing about here!

Osaka Ramones ~ Song review~ BEAT ON THE BRAT
Another one with rather disturbing lyrics; but, it has an amazing sound and beat, not to mention Naoko's voice and guitar at their very best. As long as I don't take the lyrics too seriously, I really do enjoy the song, otherwise. (Let's all pretend that it's a NERF baseball bat)

Osaka Ramones ~ Song review~ PINHEADWhile I realise that this song is iconic with Ramones fans, I can't really get into it; let's just say it's not my favorite cut (As far as that goes, I'm not a huge Ramones fan; but, I love the Knife!) Anyway, to sum up, there are a couple songs that I'm not all that fond of, but, for the most part, this special album delivers all that's promised and perhaps a little more! Mikey

Lol, when I first heard this, I was surprised that Naoko actually swore. Never heard an SK member say anything even suggestive before!

Never heard an SK member say anything even suggestive before! <<< Well....Have you ever REALLY listened to the words to "Get the Wow"? I can barely understand anything they say in that song.... I googled the lyrics, I'm a bit surprised that it was a love song! The first verse, I can't tell if it's supposed to be the way it sounds... wow I do recall reading the lyrics of Miracles online before. They are really strange and suggestive, but I don't know if the translation is correct. The word "miracle" didn't show up, though Michie says "miracle" many times in the song. Maybe they are really the lyrics to a different song with the same title?

Perhaps the lyrics cited are for the Japanese version of the song, the English versions are sometimes re-written for "Western" tastes

The Ramones are one of the greatest, most influential, punch the air fantastic, life affirming bands ever; there was also an incredibly dark side to their songs, for example, '53rd and 3rd'. 'Chinese Rock' is a searingly honest account of the pain and squalor of heroin addiction, Naoko has always struck me as a intelligence and astute woman, so I have no doubt she understands the lyric fully, even if it is not in her first language. I have always felt that Shonene Knife are far more knowing and at times subversive than given credit for, certainly in the popular press. As for 'Get the Wow', is it just a fantastically exuberant pop punk song or is it something more entirely? Either way, I love The Ramones, I love Shone Knife, and I love ‘Osaka Ramones’. Standing a few foot away from Ritsuko as she sang ‘Sheena is a Punk Rocker’ was one of the great moments of my life, the perfect crystallization of some of my greatest loves!

I was so close to Ritsuko that i was able to take closeups without zooming the lens

Dont ge tme wrong I love Shonen Knife but they get lost in translation...Singing songs in English but they are still very Japanese..Shonen Knife comes across very American at times but off stage they are Visitors and as fans we get a bad habbit of confusing the two. I found this interesting...Last year Naoko Posted that the Musician Lemmy signed her Yamaha back in the 1990s. and made the comment ..Quote.. What is the meaning of gYoo Hoo Me Too!h? Anyway, this is so cool! ‚±‚ÌuYoo Hoo Me Too!v‚Á‚Ä‚Ç‚¤‚¢‚¤ˆÓ–¡‚È‚ñ‚¾‚ëHuƒ„ƒbƒz[v‚Ý‚½‚¢‚È‚±‚ÆH‚©‚Á‚±‚æ‚·‚¬B If you are a die hard Ramones fan You would know That they wore (YooHoo) shirts in the 1980s and infact there for sale from Time to time on ebay by the guy who printed them up for Johnny Ramone www.rockometer.com/ramones/order.html Dont take my comment as negative..Im just pointing out that Yes they are a fun band and there on a Ramones run but I think as fans we expect them to be totally up on american culture speak great English and be more than they are. The Ramones album was A request by Rob and Good Charemel Records and it was great for a 30 year anniversary album but dont think more about it than that. Pete Analog-Surf Attachments:

In regard to your comments about "Beat On The Brat", In New York back in the days I (and the Ramones) were growing up, it was common for parents to say things like that about their children and not really mean it.
My Aunts and Uncles also used to threaten us with all kinds of dismemberment and bruises and were very loving people. We knew it was just a figure of speech.
Today this is unacceptable (rightly so) but back then a very common way of speaking.
It was a "New York Thing" I guess.

If I had to sign that guitar for Naoko, I would change the word "Yamaha" into "Yamano"!
