Aw, I hate when that happens, and it happens to me several times a year. Stringfellow does sound great! And Marky sounds great as ever. I don't know how I feel about the walking out into the audience. They love it, and that young kid got a story to tell his friends. But it's a bit entertainer-like, and I always thought it was essential that the Ramones never, ever broke ranks. They performed like one single machine that couldn't be stopped once it was started. The music seems to require that. 〜〜〜〜〜 Funny how he imitates Joey's diction. Joey Ramone would always pronounce "bop" with a clipped, put-on accent that sounded vaguely British-ish. Native Queens, NY: Standard US English: Joey Ramone: | BAHWP BOP BUP |
It's odd to hear somebody in a black motorcycle jacket making up a classier-sounding accent, as if he were the Hollywood actor Cary Grant. Such a well-behaved crowd, too. Nobody is slam-dancing or spraying fountains of beer.

It can be both at once, of course. I have a video clip of Ni-Hao! rehearsing this with Emi Morimoto sometime in 2004–2005. If I can't find it anywhere on YouTube already, I guess I know what I have to do. Do you remember lying in bed, with the covers pulled up over your head.
…radio playing, so no one can see?
We need change, and we need it fast Before rock's just part of the past 'Cause lately it all sounds the same to me

That must have motivated Joey, his heart seems really in it.

Bumptious band of degenerate no-talents To the editors: Melody Maker, 1976 July 24 The 24-hour sensation around the defaced Highland Ave. exit sign reminded me of this. Because someone else had to bring it up. dangerousminds.net/comments/the_ramones_are_rubbish_morrisseys_thoughts_on_the_ramones_1976For this, MM awarded him a free promo LPActing like someone actually familiar with the, uh, swamps of lower Manhattan, the 17-y.o. Morrissey managed a side-swipe at the Stooges. And in the sober light of day their his imperfections have had a field day. Morrissey did an ostentatious about-face in 2010, picking Ramones as his #2 favorite album of all time, behind New York Dolls. thequietus.com/articles/04797-morrissey-s-supreme-13-favourite-albums?page=13The Quietus writer mistakenly fantasizes that Morrissey was a Ramones fan on first contact. He goes on to wonder about the right-wing exclusionist xenophobe Morrissey getting himself photographed at the grave of "right-wing, militaristic guitarist and bandleader Johnny." Come on, the heroic bronze tomb art is what makes the shot.
