Hmm, wonder who would win in a battle between the PowerKnife Girls and these three? Mikey? J-Punk/Rock vs J-Pop/Techno? Happy Halloween!

Nice review of their London show this week: "Although they may have formed nearly a decade and a half ago, Japanese girl band Perfume are still only in their mid 20s. As students of the Actors School Hiroshima, Ayaka Nishiwaki (‘A-chan’), Yuka Kashino (‘Kashiyuka’) and Ayano Omoto (‘Nocchi’) shared a passion for perfume and for performance, so combining their forces into a musical powerhouse was the only logical way forward. Building a loyal following on their local circuit, the group became household names in Japan in 2008 when they unleashed their phenomenal seventh single ‘Polyrhythm’. With success on home turf came the drive for international acclaim, and before they could blink their eyes, they had built up a loyal fanbase around the world. With their fourth studio album, Level3, enjoying critical and commercial acclaim upon its release in 2013, Perfume’s British fanbase roared with delight and ran for the box office queue when they announced that they would be performing a one-off show at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith. To say the atmosphere was electric would be a huge understatement. With the show sold out, the excited audience ran into the auditorium cheering and clapping. With the anticipation riding high, the applause continued till the trio took to the stage. Met with riotous applause, A-chan, Kashiyuka and Kawayuka launched themselves into a set that centred around their last two albums. Although Level3 showcased a more mature side to the trio, the material balanced well with the more playful elements lifted from JPN and earlier. With the techno electonica vibe of Level3 the dominant sound of the evening, the girls presented a slick show that was met with more than a little enthusiasm by the fist-pumping crowd. With the girls managing the difficult balance of energetic, meticulously choreographed dance routines and live vocals, it was impressive that not one foot was misplaced or one note missed. With their flawless delivery beyond impressive, their staging proved the perfect compliment to their otherworldy routines. A simplistic stack of cubes, reflecting the cover of Level3 was cleverly highlighted to enhance the futuristic effect of the trio’s sound. With ‘Dream Fighter’ a clear fan favourite, it prompted the audience to erupt further into a state of hysteria. But it was the impressive delivery of ‘Spending All My Time’ that really showcased the innovative strength of the trio. Opening as a remix rendition by a CGI version of the girls, the trio burst through the screen to deliver the original. Amazing does not even come close. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWuCmjpvXmE "

Plus the idoru don't have solid-body guitars to swing. No contest. Unless someone gets Ritsuko by the hair. Because then you can pick her up, probably with one hand.
