And with a Dymo label-maker! This is the true spirit of DIY, Naoko would approve! Yes, that was my point! picture uploader

ME : Naoko likes me ♥ YOU: Why not… she likes all her fans. Except scary persons.
ME : No, I wished her well on her ba–su-de–, and she answered me right back. YOU: That’s just business. Don’t forget how polite Naoko is.
ME : She said, thanks a lot! Exclamation point! YOU : Tomato Head has two part-time employees for things like this.
ME : Then she said, rock forever! With a smiley!! YOU: The part-timers check output from a Python script and click “send.” They do 500 an hour on birthdays and holidays.
ME : No way. I said, keep on rocking and she said, rock forever. YOU: Script uses keywords and translation APIs from Google. The guy who did it is working for Honda. You got a tweet from a bot.
ME : Naoko likes me ♥

LOL, don't let her husband find out, Romeo! Not to worry, our love is pure. Besides, I would hope Naoko's spouse is up to date on everything. How can you say you love someone if you won't even lurk on their pro board?

Time and place of birth? How do we reckon SK's actual first breath? Moment of conception: Naoko makes the 99th phone call to set up a weekday golf date for some fathead in the office where she works. Birth of the band: first time Naoko lies to her parents about going shopping, when she is really off to a bad part of town to meet the other girls in their practice space.

The birth of SK would indeed have been as strange thing to see... Ok Michie, we both bought guitars and a used set of student drums for Atsuko... Can you play yours? No? Me either... hey Att-chan, hit the round things in some kind of order... ok, good enough.

A golden shambles of affection, mild embarrassment, and joy. Are these not some of the most lovable people on earth? I'm happy to be able to see this!
EDIT: I took a good look at that cake, and if I understand correctly, the birthday celebration is for the venue itself. The Oita AT Hall opened 10 years ago and its anniversary coincided more or less with the Brinky/SK date.

Would any other band be so sweet with one of their cover bands?

Happy Birthday Shonen Knife,33 years old today. I went poking around in the band biography pages at shonenknife.net. Naturally there is a first page, dated 1981 December 29. The Japanese version says, "Shonen Knife formed in Osaka, December 29." The barely-there English version is more explicit: "Gave the first rehearsal in Osaka, Japan." So, yeah, skswede, I guess that's where and when the first stake was put in the ground! And thank you for reminding the forum!

Would any other band be so sweet with one of their cover bands? Sweet like this? Shonen Knife are reigning indie-rock queens and sempai, so it's kind of expected, but still... It does look like a pretty tight scene over there. And BRINKY is awfully easy to like!
