Strangely, ten years later, a modelkitmaker reissued the car as "Fonzie's Dream Rod", to cash in on the "Happy Days"* fad!(Weird since it was based off a car of the 60s, not the 50s ) *For those of you too young to know, Happy Days was a 1970s sitcom, set in the 1950s Attachments:

B-58 Buick I found this 1958 Buick Special rotting in what used to be a used car lot til it went bankrupt in the late 60s (I took this pic in the 80s); personally, I think they are kind ugly, but, if you like chrome, this may be the car for you! Attachments:

Not likely... the modelmaker just wanted to cash in on the Fonzie popularity thing and thought they could use that to sell leftover Monkeemobiles (I would guess)

The Packard story; from luxury to travesty part 1: A car is born The Packard cars origins began as a challenge from another automaker: Sometime in the late 1890s, the Packard brothers purchased a Winton (A very early brand of American car) and found it to be lacking; unsatisfied with the machine, they wrote to Alexander Winton, personally and asked him for a refund... He wrote back a terse note: "If you can build a better car than I can, be my guest"... And so they would; out of that letter came the Packard, a car that would be one of the leading luxury cars for close to 60 years. The Packard crest; showing a pelican drawing blood from her own chest to feed her youngThe Packard brothers were more than ready for the task, their first car was more or less a motorised buggy, but, even the prototype showed the craftsmanship and attention to detail the company would be known for. Prototype Packard 1899 , and the same car today: The Packard bros had begun the company in their home state of Ohio, but, in 1902,Detroit financier Henry Joy bought a Packard car, and was so impressed that he bought the company, and moved it to Detroit. (Eventually, the Joy and company President, Alvin MCcauley would push the Packards out) With this infusion of cash, the Packard bros would produce their first luxury car in 1903; visually, they were nice enough, but, the next year, the Packard would gain it's identity in the form of the famous "ox-yoke" grill; a styling cue that would grace all Packards nearly until the end. 1903 & 1904 Packards, note the ox-yoke grill: Ox yoke; note the shape: One of the first Packard innovations was it's 1916 "Twin six" V-12 , the first production 12 cylinder engine; it was meant as an answer to Cadillac's early V-8! By 1920, the Packard had gained a jaunty new windshield, curved at the sides and headlights that mimmicked the yoke shape of the grill; the look was so popular that by 1924, Buick was adding these features to it's own cars! !920 Packard & 1924 BuickUnder the Joy-McCauley regime, the Packard became THE car of the rich , in the 1920s And would stay in an elite group along with Cadillac and the Deusenburg well into the late 1930s and to a lesser extent, until the onset of World War 2. A large 1920s Packard sedan... I swear this thing's wheels were close to 3 feet high!cont.... (Next time; the party comes to an end)
